Antibiotics making things worse?

The vet gave me oral antibiotics and antibiotic eye ointment for Bella to give her twice a day (got them on saturday). She seems to be getting worse and not better! I especially noticed that tonight, I was only able to put the antibiotics in one eye, and now, 2 hours later that eye is MUCH worse than the other, she squints it. I'm trying not to worry and just to let things run their course...but it's sad to see her so miserable. Also, her nose isn't cold...it's not exactly hot, but shouldn't the oral antibiotics kill any fever she may have?

I only have experience with oral antibiotics. I would say that the effects come about 48 to 72 hours after the first dose. Hope Bella gets better soon!

If your cat is getting worse not better you call your vet ASAP, she may have an allergy to that particular antibiotic.

I would call in the morning and describe what that eye is doing, what if any discharge, they may want to see her again and/or change the eye ointment you are using.

This may not help but I haven't had good experience with antiobiotics. too much of them or the wrong one can really have a negative effect. hopefully they have an emergency number you can call? hope she gets better soon.
