When I had my kitten spayed on Monday the vet asked if I wanted to have her teeth sealed and to buy a gel kit that is supposed to prevent gum disease and plaque. You apply the gel once a week. I went ahead and had them apply the seal and bought a gel kit to try it out. Has anyone had any experience with this? Does it work better than brushing? It just seemed easier than brushing overall, but I'm not sure I want to keep paying for the gel. It's only 3$ a week. If it really does work best I'll keep buying it, otherwise I'll just go back to toothpaste. I start the gel next week.

Never heard of it before, sorry. I give my cat's partially cooked pieces of steak to keep their teeth clean.

I've never heard of this product before but it sounds great if it does its job. Do you know what the gel is called? I'm intrested.

Merlin had his teeth "sealed" when they cleaned them back in August. I wasn't told anything about a gel, but I did get him a daily oral rinse to prevent plaque and gingivitis. I'm definately going to ask the vet about a cleaning gel next time I'm in the office.

Mer's a wonderful cat, but he turns into a terror if I try to brush his teeth. You might want to try and see how your cat does.

The gel is called Oravet- it comes packaged in a box with individual applications. It looks pretty easy.

I did see it on my vet's shelves when I went to pick up some hairball remedy for Hans. I didn't get a chance to ask about it though.
