I saw this movie last night. I enjoyed it very much, lots of great effects and held my interest all of the way through. It's with Keanu Reeves as a modern day exorcist who is trying to earn his way back into heaven (by doing the exorcisims and sending the bad guys [demons] back to hell). I didn't know that was from a comic book until after I saw it so if you know the comic you might have a different opinion than me.

Did you stay through the credits to see some other scene at the end? A reviewer on TV didn't like having to do that.. whenever I watch movies though I always fast forward to see if theres anything at the end... for me thats like a little bit of extra movie!

I have not seen it yet.. my GF says its to much of a "Monster" movie for her..
I guess I have to wait till it comes out on TV or DVD.

No I missed it! I went with my older niece. She made me go with her because she saw it the night before and had to see it again, so she must have missed it twice!

I'm really looking forward to seeing this. I'm a big fan of the comic Hellblazer and I'm interested in seeing how it translates to screen. Although I'm disappointed by one thing however-when originally drawn, John Constantine was based on Sting (the musician). It's going to be a bit hard looking at Keanu Reeves in the role, at first.

Adrian and I went to see it last night and I have to say, I wasnt too impressed... The CGI was the best part, the plot was okay but I'm finding that nothing is original anymore... I just though the ending was cheap and there were a lot of really cheesy moments throughout the movie... Adrian fell asleep at the end so, what does that tell you??
LoL And, we didnt stay for the credits and neither did the rest of the theater so, I guess I'll wait for DVD and maybe I'll see it again... I have to say tho, I did appreciate the scary parts... it gave me the opportunity to snuggle close to Adrian...
hehehe

Personally, I think I will be able to handle looking at Keanu with no problem.
Seriously don't know if I will be able to watch this or not. As Cirque's GF said, it maybe a little bit too monster for me.

It wasn't that monster for me, I found some of the amazing costuming and special effects very affecting, but what was wrong with it was that the dialogue was flat and Rachel Weisz was horribly miscast as the female lead opposite Keanu. Always a pleasure to see Tilda Swinton in anything, but Gabriel needed more development, it wasn't a comedy was it????

Brendan is dying to see this movie! All I hear everytime there's a trailer for it on TV is, "I really want to see this." "Really Brendan," I'll say, "I had no idea." hehe. It's good to hear some reviews from those of you who have seen it already though. I like knowing what I'll be getting myself into!

We saw this movie last night. Personal rating: "it's just okay"

Truthfully, we went in expecting it to be horrible and were pleasantly surprised to find that it was not. It's certainly not the worst movie I've seen but it was flat and uninspiring.

Having read Hellblazer for a number of years, I think of Constantine as he is in the comic - a magician/warlock, he's tall, thin, blond, British, and extremely snarky. Reeves may be tall and thin but the rest - nah. Weisz was okay, loved Swinton and Rossdale, but there are better story lines they could have pulled from the comic series. I think they would have been better off to call this by some other name than "Constantine".

I think why I liked it so much is that I didn't read the comics first. Anytime I see a movie where I read the book first I am always disappointed.

Saw it and liked it. The plot twist was a bit farfetched, my DH said that the character who turned traitor wouldn't in reality do that, but in general a decent movie.

My DH and I saw this movie last night. He liked it; I thought it was okay. I wasn't particularly impressed with Rachel Weisz either. I wish we would have stayed to see the part at the end! Guess we'll have to see it on DVD...I know DH will want to buy it.

Brendan and I just got back from seeing it. I thought it was a pretty good movie, and he really liked it. Neither of us had read the comic before hand. It definitely made me jump a few times! We actually DID stay for the end scene. I told Brendan about that as the credits started rolling and we ended up being the ONLY ones in the theater! So, we were the only 2 at that showing to see the end little scene. It's a veryy short scene, but I always like little extras so it was worth the wait.

All in all I thought it was good.
