I just read the declawing article. My cat, Beazy, is in quarrantine in the US awaiting entry to the UK. She's serving her quarrantine with my sister. Beazy has claws, my sister's cats don't. I know my sister has been frustrated by my choice to NOT declaw my cat.

Softpaws sound like an amazing answer! Do they really work? If so, I'll send my sister a pack asap to keep her happy and Beazy...clawful.

cheers!
Kate

Many people say they work, though I have had trouble putting them on and gave up int he end. By the way, declawing is illegal in the UK.

How did you convience your sister to squeeze into the little cat carrier? Doesn't the cat mind sharing her limited space in quarrantine? *grin*

Good luck with the relocation of your kitty

Dunno. SoftPaws sound like a lot more trouble than they're worth. I just go with claw clipping. A one-time expense of the clippers, and I can keep my kittens' claws short and blunt as I damn well please. No recurring expense of continually buying press-on-nails for my cats.

I think they work pretty good. I've only used them once, on my kitten when we visited my mom's house. My mom insisted I have her declawed if I wanted her to visit, but I couldn't bring myself to do it so I got Soft Paws instead. A couple fell off the day after I put them on, but I just replaced them and they lasted like two months. They worked well enough that my mom was happy, and I saved Isabelle's claws.

SoftClaws or SoftPaws are a wonderful alternative to declawing. I use SoftClaws and they work wonders. Try them, I'm sure you'll like them!

My sister is in the US, not the UK, so her cats are legal.

A little catnip and my sister will do anything...

(I'm just glad the quarrantine laws have changed so the Beaze can be at my sister's instead of in a cattery somewhere...)

Imogen-
Thanks for the thread! (Are you still using them?) Your cats are beautiful!
There are still 5 Soft Claws on Izzie's claws. It was my very first time applying them and it's very likely I didn't apply that one nail cap correctly. I seriously think the nail caps are great alternative to help protect furniture and do recommend them. I think my poor kitty just happened to find the only fiber in the carpet that had a loop hole!! The ironic this is...the next day Izzie was scratching at her post and that same claw (sharp because I hadn't yet trimmed it) got caught!! My conclusion is...the nail caps probably are no more of a potential hazard than sharp claws catching on anything else.

I had e-mailed the vet at www.softclaws.com where I had purchased them and she responded within 3 hours. I was happy to know that I had purchased a product from an "inventor" who showed concern.
