alright so i'm washing my hands. i look up and notice something. my hair is stange looking. like a little bit of silver or something. i got really close to the mirror and realized something!! i have a WHITE hair!!!!!!!!! i'm freaking out a little more than i thought i ever would but i mean i'm only 22!!! and I have REALLY dark hair so it stands out.

i called my mom and her response was "well your aunt jean's (my grandmothers sister) hair was all white by the time she was 18!!! i really dont care about looks or anything like that but now i'm feeling old and i really dont want to go white like my aunt! did any of you freak out when you found a white hair???

First year high school, one of my classmates was already graying. And then, my mom is going to be 80 and there's still no white hair. So there's nothing to worry about. Some people get greys earlier than others.

me too!! i was getting my hair highlighted yesterday and the lady found two white hairs above my ear... i flipped out... the first word out of my mouth was 'chris'
(my husband) the man drives me crazy, i know this is his fault! i am only 20!!!!!!!! my mom said i get it from her dad, who had a full head of white hair by the time he was 24... and i didnt believe it, till she emailed me an old picture... i am doomed, i will be coloring my hair from here on out... but it might not be so bad... my mom's mom was half indian... and she still had a full head of black hair when she passed away last year... no color or anything... so i might have a chance... but i am skeptical

well i'm glad i'm not alone!!!

i feel kinda silly for being upset by a little hair but i really am. it wouldnt be so bad if i was blonde like my mom. she has some silver/white hairs but you can hardly tell since her hair is already so light.

but me? i'm going to look so silly with such dark hair and then the white. and then i'm pretty darked skinned because i'm half mexican. my mom and all of them are really fair skinned so it looks fine on them. looks like i'll be coloring my hair pretty soon.

we decided its because of all my kitties that i'm already going. i think thats a pretty good call. one of them is always getting into trouble (head stuck in a can, eating a textbook, stuck up a tree, etc) elijah my oldest kitty was solid black and now has a handful of white mixed in. i think the kittens are getting to him too.

i told my husband if he doesnt stop driving me out of my mind i am going to grow my hair out like cruella deville in 101 dalmations...

i usually keep some kind of color on my hair, i cant keep it just one shade... plus it is on the underside of all my hair... so i should be good until it starts coming out of the top of my head...

dont pull them though!! my friend, who also found a grey hair a couple of weeks ago(she is 28) told me, for ever grey hair you pull out, two more will grow back...
hehe

I found my first bone white hair on my 25th birthday, and told whoever might be listening in the cosmos that I really didn't think that was very funny!

I found my first white hair when I was 24. I don't think I freaked out though...I had more of a "Hmmm, OK" kind of reaction. My mom said her grandmom's hair was completely white by her early 30's.

Hey sweetie, I'm your age and I had my first gray in SEVENTH GRADE! It was horrifying. But, here I am 9 or 10 years later and I only have 3. I kind of like them now actually.
I'm a dark brunette so they stand out sometimes. Don't worry about it though, I'm sure you've still got a ways to go before you start ACTUALLY going gray! And besides...there's always hair dye!

There's no place like home
I was 16 years old and sitting on a beach with a friend and her boyfriend's mother Sandy. I have natural red hair, and Sandy was a dyed red-head, always envious that she couldn't get the natural shadings like I had. She was looking at me, reached over and plucked a white hair from my head. She was gloating, and smuggly said something about me turning white young. At 44, my red is fading into a pleasant strawberry color and is actually getting a more interesting color. HA to you Sandy!!

Katherine, mine was the same way.....found one in my early teens. Now I'm 25 and only have a couple (of course, my boyfriend loves to play "Find Amy's Gray Hair" even though he has more than I do!)
I can sympathize with all of you that found gray hair early. But don't worry- from what I've been told (and they may have been lying through their teeth, but I prefer to think they weren't), a few gray hairs give you character

thanks everyone. i'm feeling much better about it this morning.
other than my great aunt who went totally white so early i guess i've never really heard of anyone who just found one or two so young. i didnt find any others so hopefully it was just a one time thing if not well then i'll start coloring it. i think i could have some fun with that
thanks again.

My Nana is in her early fifties and I believe she only has a few grey hairs, same with my mum and she's in her early thirties. Too me going grey wouldn't be a big deal!

When mine came out I was hoping mine would come out so I would resemble Lily Munster, but no such luck.

I have a cousin who has a white streak like that, I always thought it was really cool

My husband is taking after his dad; he'll be totally gray by the time he's in his mid40s and white by 50. I've got a smattering of gray hairs but it doesn't bother me in any way. It's just hair
