hi, i am new here- but read some of the threads and am looking for some advice.

my boyfriend and I have had our kitty for almost 6 months now and shes about 9 months old. She's recently started taking the dried poop out of her litter box and playing with it on the bathroom floor. The first time she did this I heard her kicking/pawing something around and came to find a big lump of her hard poop being pushed around. She's done it about 5 times in the past few weeks. We clean out her litter box about everyother day, and even right after we clean it it she's gone in there done her business and a few hours later is playing with it. I'm not sure what to do,hopefully this is just a phaze. Any advice would be greatly appriciated.

thanks!

Hi and welcome to the TCS.
Does she have enough toys to play with?
Maybe clean the litter box twice a day. I wouldnt know.
Try to have more toys for her to pick from to play with.
Interact with her with those toys, that may help. Anouther member will more likly help you on this subject. Ive only had one cat do that, but thats because it was his first litter box use.

You clean out her litter box every other day? That is not enough. You really need to clean your litter pan everyday and make sure you have two pans for her. If there is nothng for her to play hockey with, she won't. Also make sure she has toys and playtime with you every day. Interactive toys like the cat dancer or da bird. She is young and doing what kittens who are taken from their mom to early typically do. She doesn't know any better, so she is amusing herself. Don't get mad at her either. There is nothing wrong with what she is doing. But having a cleaner litter pan, and another one she can use will definitely help.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that I guess I'd rather my kitten played with water than his poop . . . .

I wanted to say thanks to everyone for your help and suggestions. Lula has stopped playing with her poop! We changed her litter from the stuff that clumps up and that seems to have resolved the problem.
