Hi all, I have a question about a 10-month old altered male cat. He's usually a very loving and affectionate cat, and not at all picky. But for the last three weeks he's been very aloof and won't cuddle like he used to. He will meow incessantly at my husband and I from a distance, but runs away when we try to pay attention to him. He's stopped sleeping with us at night, and won't try out the new bed that we bought for him two days ago. We haven't made any changes at all, like lifestyle changes or furniture changes or anything, and he's been altered now for at least five months.

Has anyone else had any experience with a normally affectionate and happy cat that, for no apparent reason, has turned into a moody cat? Thanks!

I would take your kitty to the vet. Changes in behavior are usually related to a health issue.

I just wanted to second what Hissy said.

The only way Merlin lets me know he's not feeling well is by refusing to sleep with me. Two ear infections, horrible gingivitis, and a torn eardrum were all discovered (not all at once) when he refused to sleep anywhere but under my bed. I wouldn't have known he was in pain otherwise.
