Ok here's the situation. My bengal queen mated on dec. 14th and it has now been 65 days and still no signs of labor! I did leave the two together for three weeks and they continued to mate for the entire 3 weeks. My cats abdomen is very large and I can feel and see lots of movement. There is no discharge, no nesting behavior and no other signs of impending labor except alot of grooming (which she has been doing for days). Her nipples are pink and erect but I don't see any milk leaking. One thing I noticed is that she has developed some diaherria with a little blood. The diaherriha (sp?) is not really watery just not solid like it should be. Her appetite is still good. Her temp was 99.2 yesterday and 99.1 today (although I don't know that it's an accurate temp) 65 days after mating shouldn't she at least be showing some signs of impending labor?
Also since they bred for so long after they were put together does that mean that she probably didn't take for awhile? I have been told that they should stop mating after she becomes pregnant because she will go out of heat but then I read that a cat can have kittens of different ages and from different toms so how would that be possible if she goes out of heat and won't mate after she becomes pregnant?

Just a little update-I just checked on her and so far today there has been no bowel movements (therefore no diaherriha) she really let it rip yesterday almost like she was cleaning herself out. She is also a bit more restless, sort of pacing. Her appetite has gone down some. I leave dry food out for her and feed her about 2 cans of canned food a day. Normally in the morning she will finish her whole can but today she only ate about 1/4 of it and is not interested in the rest.
I hope it's going to happen soon! This is my first litter im so excited I can barely contain myself!!!!
I researched the breed for more then 3 years and finally took the plunge!

I'm having the same situation with my NFC Queen. She mated on Dec 11th. They can go up to 69 days. She is on day 65. She is showing no signs in labor. however she isn't eating as much. When I took her to the vets two days ago, her temp was 98.6. I haven't been taking it myself. I'm going to start that today. Her belly is so big it looks like she is ready to explode. I'm learning to be patient, because they will go when they are ready and not a minute sooner. I learned this watching my mom with her Ragdolls. Keep taking her temp. when it stays below or at 98 she should go into labor within 8 to 12 hours. Atleast she is cleaning herself my cat is still just lazing around doing nothing but eating and loving me to death. Your cat should go any day now. Let us know when she does. As far as the diarhea, she was probably cleaning herself out. Mine did the same, a little vomitting too. I think she over ate. And her poor big fat belly couldn't handle all the food.

Hi,
Thanks for the info. Im getting so stressed! It's now day 66. and still no signs of labor. Shes back to eating like miss piggy and her nipples are not dark pink like i've seen described. They are a lighter pink but long and getting fatter. There is no swelling of the breast tissue around the nipples either as far as I can tell. The hair on the belly is getting thin though. I wanted to take her temp today but she hates it and im afaid if i stress her out it will delay labor even more.
You say yours mated on Dec. 11? dosent that put you on her 69th day today? Mine mated Dec 14 and that puts us on day 66.
What did the vet say? Did he tell you to bring her back if she didnt go into labor by the 69th day? Please keep me informed I am interested in knowing how it goes for you as well.

You are absolutely right. LOL. today should be 69 days. I'm not 100% sure that she conceived on the 11th. The woman I bought her from sold her to me pregnant. She said she got pregnant on the 11th. So it could have been later. You really should be taking her temp regularly to see if it drops. that is what the vet told me. Sometimes they don't develope milk until she starts giving birth. So don't be worried about that yet. If she doesn't give birth on her 69th day call your vet and ask what they think. My cat hasn't developed any milk yet either. But her titties are getting bigger. I'm sure she will go when she is ready. Do you feel the kittens moving? Elka's feel like they are ready to rip right out of her belly. she is huge. Maybe she will have them tonite. They give birth in the late evening. Atleast that is my experience. keep me informed and I'll do the same.

Hi,
Same with me-I got my cat already pregnent. I got the stud and queen at the same time and left them togther for two more weeks. They were together a total of 3 weeks and bred the whole time.
I took her to the vet today I found some worms in her poo. The vet said that she probably concieved later then the 12th but he was able to squeeze milk out so she should be ready to go any time. I must not have squeezed hard enough to check for milk. He was not cocerned at all with dates he said it's just too hard to tell the date when they are left together as long as I left them together.
Her temp was 101 so the temp I was taking was not accurate anyway.
There is a lot of movement in there just like you said they look like they are going to rip out of her belly at any moment from all that kicking and moving. He did say the way her tummy looked that she has alot of them in there. I would have liked to find out how many but don't want to give her xrays unless the vet sees a need for it. Well, as of 12:36 tonight still nothing-she's still eating and laying around like usual.
The vet said to check her vulva and see if it is dialated at all. He show'd me and it was barely open.
Nothing else to report. I guess it's just a waiting game for us both.

I could swear I got some milk out of Elka last nite. But none this morning. I don't want to keep doing that she needs the colostrum for the babies. However, she does a a little clear disccharge. So hopefully today is the day.

That is indeed a good sign-the dischange is from her vulva right? I don't think you will waste milk by squeezing if it'sd anything like a person the more you milk the more it comes in. But with women, nipple stimulation causes a release in oxytosin (sp?) which makes you go into labor. I wonder if it can be the same for cats? No discharge yet with my kitty.

I took her to the vet yesterday (if your question is to me) and he said not to be concerned with her dure date since they mated for three weeks she could have concieved later then the first day of mating. I asked him when to be worried and he said not to be worried unless she is in labor and unable to deliver the kittens. Although I am still very worried and anxious about her due date I guess I shouldnt be. She's on day 67 today.
Have you ever encountered a problem with you cat just not going into labor? What does the vet usually do if there is no labor by 67?
Thanks for the info, I need all the info I can get!

Since you bred your cats for so long, you really have no way of knowing what the real date is she got pregnant, you haven't even got a decent "window" of time to work from. Therefore you don't/can't know what day of pregnancy she's in. The best thing to do is to make sure you keep a close eye on her, and watch for the signs of labor. If you can, take her temp twice a day and chart it, when it drops to around 98 (or so) she's getting really close. She may not even exhibit any signs of nesting until right before she goes into labor.

Is this her first litter?

I know that suckling babies will release oxytocin, but I'm not entirely sure that just stimulating them will do the same thing.

Yes that is the info the vet basically told me (about the due date). I had no choice but to leave them together for so long the breeder I bought them from unexpectedly brought them to me from Las Vegas before I had accomodations ready.
I tried taking her temp several times but the temp was way off from when i took her to the vet. I think because im trying to use a digital thermometer.
Today she won't do anything. she even layes down to eat and to scratch her post. I even tried tempting her to play and she wont play. She is still alert(especially when I showed her the hamster - lol). I looks like it's getting really close.

BTW-this will be her second litter. The first litter was a litter of 2. I don't know if the first litter was delayed or not since I did not own her untill recently.

Could you please help, my cat was bread sometme in the fist couple of weeks in Jan, she is starting to look into her nesting boxes for a few seconds and jumps out, she is cleaning her nipple area alot more, and she seemed to have some sort of yellowish stuff around her vulva yesterday and today it seems a bit wider . could you please tell me how the vet showed you how to check her vulva? And help you may have would be greatly appreciated. I ahve to be away for a few hours tonight and tomorrow night and if it looks like she might be going soon i need to change my plans, so any advice you have would help so much, she is still eating and sleeping as normal but seems to want to be on my lap at all times, if I am busy she will just pace around until I sit down again.
Again any advice is very helpful.
Sue

If she has yellowish discharge around her vulva it is probably her mucus plug and she will probably go into labor within 24 hours. You will be able to tell she's in labor because her belly will get real hard an rise up and then go down-that will happen over and over, that is contractions. Then she will start pushing and that'
s when the kittens will be born. My cat ate and slept like normal too untill she went into full on labor. Do you see lots of movement of the kittens in her belly?
I would change my plans if I were you, it sounds like she's going to be going into labor very shortly.
