I've got kind of a different thread....I have a problem. I am married, jut recently bought my first house and adopted a new cat, taking the total to 3.
However...over the last few weeks I have been greatly fatigued, having nausea, dizziness generally every sign of the early stages of pregnancy.
Here's the kicker...I take birth control pills....never missed one, have been on them for 3 years, no problems. Took a home pregnancy test and it was negative.
My question is...could I still be pregnant?? I take my pills the right way, and have never missed one, EVER.
I am just concerned...I have 3 cats. I clean out litter boxes.
I have put in a call to my doctor and am waiting for a nurse to call me.
I was just interested in knowing if anyone out there had experienced a problem similar to this??
Thanks.

I've never trusted pregnancy tests unless done by a doctor. There have been women who have gotten pg while on the pill, and taking it. One woman had three kids while taking the pill, she never stopped(except when she knew she was pg)

I honestly don't know anyting about pregnancy since I am broken. But I do know that it is a huge blessing to some, and a big burdon to others.

This is honestly not a burden...granted its not convenient right now, but nothing worth having ever is. I am just worried. I take other medications that could be harmful, and I dont want to harm an unborn child. And I have cats, that I have no intention of getting rid of.
I just couldnt find anything online to validate that it was possible. I appreciate your response. I am still waiting on the doctor to call me back.
I dont really have a lot of people I can talk to, living out in the middle of nowhere, so this is kind of a good thing!

I would have to wonder, Diane, have you missed your period yet, or was your last period lighter in flow, darker or of shorter duration? I don't mean for you to answer this here, but sometimes this could also be a sign of pregnancy. I would recommend that you see your Dr for a more reliable pregnancy test. You need to know if you should stop taking the pill if you are, in fact, pregnant. Either way, even if you're not pregnant, you have something going on with your health that needs to be addressed.

I personally got pregnant while on the pill....and my first pregnancy test was also negative. My first clue that I may be pregnant though was that my breasts hurt really bad. The nausea and fatigue came a little later once I already knew for sure that I was pregnant.

The symptoms you are describing could also be signs of stress....which you obviously have your plate full with all the new things going on in your life. They could also be signs of illness too. I would suggest scheduling an appt with your doctor as soon as possible to rule out pregnancy or anything else.

Let us know how you're doing.

Well, I am glad that it kind of a good thing. Never is the perfect time to have kids. Nobody is ever really ready, they learn new things every day from one child to the next.

I hope you find out for sure soon. While I worked at a petstore, my boss got pg. So... I had to start cleaning ALL cages, etc. I understood why, it was just a big inconvenience for me. I had to take on extra duties. It would have been a bit easier if she could have shifted a few from me also. But... She worked way harder through her pregnancy then she should have. Her hubby, while he helped, wasn't a huge help. He had too much to do with running the business, and dealing with customer issues. We really should have hired another person.

She was even trying to do payroll while she was in labor. I was helping customers, trying to count time on her contractions, becuse her hubby was beside himself saying 'We are having a baby, I'm having a baby' when customers would talk to him, that's all he would say. It was chaotic. lol, and funny

I am glad you are going to talk to your doctor alreay, that's the best idea. We always say to consult a vet when people have questions about some health issues with cats. I feel the same way with humans and certain things.

In a state of insanity :)
Have you been sick and had to take antibotics for it. The antibotics make birth control pills ineffective. So there is a good chance to get pregant while taking both.

I had my period, a day later than usual, and it was way lighter, way darker, and it just stopped, making it shorter. Then I had a little spotting for a day. I just have every symptom. And having little aches in my pelvic region...however, I did fracture my pelvis on both sides 3 years ago...but this isn't the usual ache that I get from time to time with it.
All of the advice is really helpful. I have an appointment tomorrow morning with the doctor so I will let you guys know whether its a baby or not.
Thanks for all of the support, I am a little scared.
Thanks again. You guys are all great.
