A three year old unaltered cat is starting to spray/pee around the house. Would spaying her stop that behaviour, or would a UTI be a factor? There has been no changes in their houshold other than they are feeding strays outside. I have a cat that sprayed down all of our heat registers because there was a stray under the house.

Usually "spraying" and urinating outside the box are 2 different behaviors. Feeding cats outside could contribute to the spraying because she smells other cats and wants to mark everything in the house as hers. Unfortunately once spraying starts it is a very hard habit to break, especially the longer it goes on.

The first course of action would be to have her examined by her Vet to rule out a medical cause for her spraying behavior. Following that, please have her spayed, it is the best decision for her health!
