I want to get Amber a heated bed and hubby says no because he is afraid of fire. He is afraid it will malfunction and start a fire! I know there is always a possiblity of that with anything you plug in but it is remote. Can anyone tell me if they have a heated bed (that plugs into a wall) and if they have had any problems or know of anyone that has had trouble? Are there alternatives?

moved your thread...

I have a heated cat bed, going strong now over two years. Out on the porch and used a lot. Perfectly safe. I got it here:

I had the same concern as your DH, so my DH and I decided to go with a self-heating pad - they have them online at www.petsmart.com. It took Chloe a couple days to get used to it, but she loves it now. It makes a rustling sound because of the insulation, which sort of freaked her out, so I sat on it for a few days to get my scent on it. And it really does work!
