Hmm...I've been reading about quitting and or cutting down on smoking.
The topic of light cigarettes came up, apparently alot of us switch to lights while cutting back. The fact of the matter is, we apparently drag off of them alot heavier than our normal brands, making them worse than the regular cigarettes we smoked. Interesting, and makes sense.
Then they talked about people like me, who have always smoked light cigarettes, where do we go? (I'm a user of super-lights 100's)
The answer is the same for both. Go stronger, as strong as you possibly can is what these medical sites say.
They say that you will not smoke as much as you previously did, because that one cigarette packs a whole pile of nicotine, making it easier to cut back to the maybe 10 a day (1/2 pack) and when you can get yourself down to 7 a day, set your quit date.
It's not cutting your dependancy..no..but it seems that doing this would be psychological, not needing as many, not craving as many, having more spare time without cigarette in hand....hmmm....makes sense, might be worth a shot. I am just afraid of going from a 28w up to a 38w...LOL

I quit. I tried a patch, tried to sleep, felt like I was going to die, took patch off.. waited for what seemed forever till I felt better and never had a cig. since. Quit cold turkey and just imagine the worst feeling in your life as what will happen if you give in.. worked for me.

Quitting smoking is always worth the try.
You can think of the money you'll be saving once you completely stop if you are having trouble qutting. And think of the great stuff you can do with that extra cash once you quit.

The EU just did away with, i.e., banned, "Lights" for this very reason, so my beloved "Marlboro Lights 100" are now "Marlboro Gold 100" and much stronger than before. Guess what - I'm actually smoking less.

Quitting smoking is something that works one way for some and another way for others. For instance, when my Mom quit, she smoked 2 cigarettes before bed for the last year she smoked and not at all during the day. The gradual thing worked for her.

My Dad quit cold turkey and he was a much heavier smoker.

My friend did something KatBoy is suggesting, but it didn't work for her. She went from lights to Camel Non-Filters! She really enjoyed them and smoked MORE. - so BE CAREFUL, KatBoy!

I quit when I got a chest cold. I posted about this before. My chest felt so bad I thought I had a lung disease. When I felt better, I knew I would never want to feel that afwul feeling in my chest again - especially PERMANENTLY!!! Its been a month and 2 days now!!!

I dont smoke and im so glad of it but i do have to admit...
i used to suck on my blanket untill i was 15 and you dont know how much id love to find it and use it again

I tried to explain to my bf that its similar but he thinks i have psychological problems

seriously i know this is gross but like... i used to dip my blanket into coke and waited for it to flavour.
the thing ended up falling appart when i started to use a hairdryer to dry it...
well im off the topic but!
when my bf and 2 other friends were over they smoked and my lungs felt so horrible i couldnt stop coughing for the next 2 days and it was horrible... just immagine if i did smoke

I haven't smoked since December 8. I got asthmatic bronchitis at the beginning of November and again at the beginning of December. I couldn't walk and breathe for 2 days - VERY SCARY. (unfortunately I think my allergy to my kitties is causing this) So I keep thinking about that feeling. Finally I am not thinking about smoking as much now. I had feelings of anger for quite a while, I really didn't want to quit and so far I don't feel any better.

A friend of mine was recently successful with the patch, but he was also taking Welbutrin (spelling?), an antidepressant. The doctor prescribed the Welbutrin for 2 weeks before the patch because it takes about that long for it to start working. The only thing is antidepressants aren't for everyone. Anyway, my friend is off the cigs and off the antidepressants too, so it worked for him.
