Well hi everyone, I know I havent been on much. I just got out of the hospital 3 days ago for a nasty cat bite from a female ferral cat I was trying to cage. I was planningon haveing her spaye and released but she had other planes. I was tryn to get her out of the trap and well she got loose a in the garage, so I grabed my gloves(very thick) put em on and went hunting. I had her cornerd and grabed her she lashed out at me and clawed off my glove and found her way into my hand by biting hard and wouldnt let go.

After what seemed like years she let go and I put her in the caring cage(have a post of her and the cage in the caring for strays and ferral board). I washed out my bite which bleed for a good time, called a friend told em what happend and he met me at teh hospital, where I was just sent home after it being cleaned!! Around 3 am I went back for mahor swelling and pain. The doctor who seen me said I would be fine, well I had to wait for the next doctor to come in which was about 3 hours! That guy gave me Antibiotics and sent me home.

A few days later I went back and wass addmitted for a week and a half. im still on meds. I was tolf to stay off my feet, but I cant since well I have 8-10 sites to go to and care fro strays/ ferals. The doctor who first seen me was fired, serves him right!!!(after many complaints I made)

Its been 3 days now and I have built 2 new traps with help, caught 20 ferrals(someone dumped new cats, from what I was told) Had the cat who bit me fixed, she will be released in 2 days she is growling at me I should be mad at her. Turned out she was pregenant so I told the vet to abort the kittens. She had a month to go.)

Kendal I am glad you acted swiftly! Think of what would have happened if you didn't? Cat bites are nasty and there is no way around it. I'm also glad you didn't thump the kitty- would have been a natural reaction for most folks.

OH Hissy Trust me thumping a very P- off ferral cat would be my last reaction. She does growl at me every time I go in there. I have put pain pills in her food the vet gave me. She had some cancer in the uterus too. So she is lucky

Thanks I got it in an email my boss sent me. She thought I would love it. IM gonna call some friends in to help with some site feedings. I may have found a new site with a group of strays that were dropped off there.

LOL Well you are smarter than some, I have heard of people hitting a feral when it bites and that just makes it bite harder. You need to push into the bite no matter how painful so it disengages quicker. If you can get your hands on some grapefruit seed extract you should start taking it to help fight the bacteria along with the antibiotic-

And thanks for posting your experience. It can never be emphasized enough just how dangerous a cat bite can be.
