Well, my best friend's kitty is now in my care after she told me she was going to be too much for her.
I found out this morning that she was planning on taking her to our local animal shelter.....That's when I got very angry with her and told her to bring the poor thing to me.

The cutie is due to have her kittens approx Feb-27th to Mar-5th, and I will be taking care of her and her new additions.
I am happy, and sad at the same time....that someone I knew so well would just let her go, and possibly be put to death "because she'll be too much work" I made sure she knew that she will not be getting her back after the kittens are born, she is now my cat, in my care full time.
She's fitting in quite well, and she loves her choice of food....She was in heaven when I put out dinner LOL
She had, Catmilk, Water, Lunchmeat, Canned Food, and a 50/50 mix of kitten and adult food. LOL.....I know, sounds like too much, but they were all small portions.
I hope I did the right thing by adopting her..........

You've not only saved one life, you've saved multiple lives in doing this. They couldn't ask for a better place to be born, and momma-cat is in very good hands too.

Has she been to the vet with your friend? Probably not a bad idea to take her to yours for a general checkup, but more so your vet will be familiar with your situation if there is an emergency with the birth.

Of course you did the right thing.

You gave her and her babies a chance at a great life, something they may not have had. Bless you for taking her in.

valanb...LOL...I already had her to the vet today. I am a regular, and been with them for a very long time...so they squeezed me in for a quickie appointment earlier.
He said she, and the new babies are doing very well.

It's a shame that there are so many people like your friend who dump their animals at shelters or on the streets when things are a little inconvenient.

Thank God for people like you who come to the rescue and offer a warm and loving home. I'm sure you won't regret your decision and you'll have a good feeling knowing that you saved the lives of this kitty and her babies.

Matt,

I know this is something you didn't plan on. Bless you for taking this on and saving the lives of Mama and her babies. How fun it's going to be to have kitties!!
I'm sorry about your friend and her viewpoint on animals. Try not to be too harsh, especially if she's a good friend. It has a lot to do with how you were raised IMHO. All you can do at this point is tell her how you feel in a nice way. Politely (sp?) state your views and try to sway her to our way of thinking
Maybe when or if you let her see those cute kitties....

I just had to tell you how much I admire you for doing this.

I do feel like I have done the right thing. She's been here all day now and I have already fallen in love with her!
I am not sure how to curb my anger with my friend. I have been her best friend for 15 years. We were raised together, we've lived together, we talk like each other, everything. She is like my sister, one that obviously does not share my love and respect for animals.
Lucky me though, I get a new kitty, and my first ever experience of having kittens!
Being that it is the first, I'll have tonnes of questions I am sure. The websites just don't offer enough.
