Well... its 70 here today and I thought that I would treat Meish to some fresh air. So I put her on her harness and I opened the door. SHe started yowling. I thought she might like it once I got her out there. Poor girl. As soon as her little paws hit the ground she was back at the door.

Is it possible she is having flashbacks to when she was stray???

If she doesn't want out, don't press her. Inside is much safer- It might be the harness she objects to. With cats, you don't lead them, they lead you when they have a harness on.

We've had her on the harness inside and she is actually fine with it. She was just scared of being outdoors. I am not going to allow her out on her own or anything. I just thought she might enjoy a little fresh air. I think she'll stick to sniffing out the window.

Poor Meish! Maybe it's best she's not interested... I'd be scared she'd like it too much and try to escape every time you opened the door!

That is true. Right now if I open the door (and she has always been this way) she runs the other way. But she loves looking out the door and looking at the birds. Poor cat. No idea what happened to her in the past. I'm glad that I don't have to worry about her taking off between my legs as I walk out the door though. She is much safer inside after all.

My calico which was a stray just over a year ago wants absolutely nothing to do with going back outside, she says that now she is a house cat she plans to stay one.
