So much for the start of a new chapter in my life... It's 11am and I'm home... why? because I dont have a job anymore... why? because Laura, my boss, is allergic to cats.... She had an allergy attack last night after I left and then she started having one today when I got there... So, before it got any worse or the kids got attached to me or I wasted any more of my life, we decided it would be best that I leave... She seemed to genuinely feel bad about it and I'm trying to keep my spirits up... It's a set back but one that I'll bounce back from... I just never thought I would lose my job because of my cat... He's really lucky I love him so much... the little brat...

So, I'm wondering if this is fates way of intervening and telling me that I'm not supposed to be doing this with my life.. that I should be doing something else... What do you guys think?

Oh no, how disappointing. I thought your boss has met you before, how come she didn't have an allergy attack then? Isn't there anything else that can be done?

That being said, there must be something better out there for you... don't lose hope! It's coming!

OMG Liza!!! How very disappointing you poor thing... Im sorry,,,Well, youve certainly proved your love for the little monster numerous times!!LOL. He's lucky to have you as a mommy!! Goodness Girl,,you just keep bouncing between problems!! I am sure that it was meant to be for some purpose,,but for what????Thats the hard part. God will reveal his plan to you when he sees fit I suppose. I am sure though that it is a great one. But,,what did catch my notice..You asked if anyone thought that it was fate's way of telling you that you should be doing something else with your life...well...I dont know what fate is saying,,but it sounds like your sayin' it. What do you REALLY want to do,,well other than being WonderWoman ofcourse, lol, but really...what do you truly desire to do??

What kind of job was it?? How is your boss allergic if the cat isn't even with you at work?? IF it is a matter of cat hair on your clothes, use a clothes/lint brush on you before you go to work. Why would ONE bad but changeable experience keep you from finding the same job somewhere else with a boss without allergies?? There is a product called allerpet you can use to wipe down your clothes too. It is worth a try. I know I wouldn't quit a job that I actually had to go to school to get a degree for, nor would I quit a job because my boss has allergies. It isn't YOUR fault. Maybe your boss could take claritin or something.

I am of the opinion that everything - and I mean EVERYTHING - happens for a reason. As hard as it may be do your best to keep a positive attitude and remain open for other opportunities. We never know where life's taking us. Some roads are nicer and prettier than others (and believe me, I've been down some pot-holed, stinky roads in my time). You never know what's waiting just around the bend!

I was working as a full time nanny... so, i'm in this lady's house 9 hours a day.. it's not like I went to school to do this job so, I'm not that upset... I'm disappointed but in a way Im kinda relieved because I am qualified to do something way more challenging than this... Not that childcare is easy but chasing after 2 little children is not something that I really want to do as a career... it was a good idea because it was good money... but, there is obviously a reason why this happened... like I said before, maybe it was fate's way of saying 'you need to do something different'... So back to the job search... wish me luck!

wow-her allergies must be intense if just being around you caused her to have all these problems...

this is terribly wrong of me to say, but maybe in the future if you are planning to continue on this path, dont mention Malakai...and if they seem to be having seriously allergy problems try using a lint brush or other anti-allergen strategies?? I mean, she may be allergic to cat dander but she could also be allergic to your perfume, or something that isn't related to you at all that just happened to come in at the same time. But, if she knew that you had a cat she could have jumped to that conclusion when it could have been something more easily changed.

just a thought....but I am so sorry that this happened! It must be so disheartening....

but I am with the pack on this one...everything happens for a reason!!!!!!!!

Well, I know that she's not faking the allergy attacks but I definately think she's overexaggerating a little... She could also have a cold but you know what, honestly, I've been feeling this way all day... you're all right... everything happens for a reason and now maybe I'll get a better job somewhere else doing something that is more challenging for me.. I've been looking for a job all day... so we'll see what happens...

I have a Bachelors of Business Administration in Business Computer Information Systems specializing in Information Technology... Big Fancy term for I'm a computer geek... You'd think it would be easy to find a job with a BCIS degree but it hasnt been easy... every job has at least one or two requirements that I'm not familiar with... so, basically I have to start teaching myself which I'm going to do... I'm gonna go to Barnes & Noble tomorrow and buy a book on Adobe Photoshop because I'm good with graphics design and animation yet I never learned Photoshop... silly right? and I'm gonna start studying Visual Basic because I always enjoyed programming in VB and I got an A in that class... I just need to learn it a little better... So while Im looking for work I'm gonna study too... Something will come along... I've been fighting back tears all day because I refuse to look at this as a negative thing... One Door Closes, Another One Opens!!!

I love your attitude and you are so right to feel optimistic!!! It's not necessarily a bad sign/omen that the job's not right, it was just a sign that your employer has a cat allergy
Everything happens for a reason. Sometimes it's a tough lesson but it's meant to me. Good luck with your next round of job searching!
