Starting on Febuary 14th, the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles will offer the state's new pet friendly license plate
The cost is $25.00 more than a standard plate, but all the proceeds will go to the Ohio Pet Fund. It will distribute funds to local animal shelters for spaying and neutering animals. Part of the proceeds will also be used to educate the public about the importance of spaying and neutering and to assist low income families with the cost of surgery. I hope this goes well with the Ohio drivers. I know this coming May, I will be getting this new plate when my current one expires. I like this plate. It features a cartoon of a dog and cat peering happily out of a car window, bearing tags the read "Neuter" and "Spay". Maybe other states can start doing this as well

I just wish this would have made the news on tv (maybe it did, I could have missed it) I didn't find it in the BIG newspapers either, it was in a small couple page weekly paper called the Geauga County Chatter.

Hmmm... Haven't seen that one, then again I barely live in Geauga Country.
I do however get lots of things for Geaga Lake.

I wish they'd publize it more too - the state I moved from last year (KY) had these plates and I loved them.

Hi!

Roughly half of the states do have animal-friendly license plates (AFLP's) for the purpose of providing statewide funding for spay/neuter! Some states have had them for many years! More states are in the process of obtaining them. One group that has tracked AFLP's is Prevent-a-Litter Coalition (PALC), who also brought us the Neuter or Spay postage stamp via American Partnership for Pets.

I am happy to see that other states are or have been doing this. I think I am going to renew my plate early

Well I can't make my own license plates ... but I think for the new car I am going to have to make a set of custom kitty plate holders for my GF instead! Woo thanks for the idea!

Thanks for the heads up! I know what I'm begging my grandma for when it comes time to renew the plates for the car in September. (To explain, in order to help with the cost of the car and car insurance while I'm in college, she's letting me drive hers, since she can't anymore. I love my g-ma!
