Congratulations!!!
I just got married in July, so if you need any help I'd be happy to do what I can online!
Have you checked out www.theknot.com yet? Can be a great resource. Their message boards don't have the same vibe as this one does, but I still found them to be helpful. I got engaged 2/14/03 and was married 7/10/04, and believe me, it was good to have a lot of time to plan. I was able to book vendors at 2003 prices, which was great for my budget. I was surprised to find out how far in advance some of the really good vendors booked up too!
Enjoy your engagement - it's a wonderful time!

Aw, congratulations on your recent wedding and being a newlywed! Thanks, I hadn't seen that site yet, I started looking at it and it looks very helpful! I was thinking that having over a year to plan would be handy, even though I had always thought my engagement would be only a year... no more no less. It seems like there's a lot to think about... ack!

Oh my goodness theknot.com is AMAZING. I'm not even engaged (or close to it) and I already know my way around that site!
You should definitely find lots of useful information there Ariana!

Ha ha, we women sure are dreamers, aren't we!

So apparently we were supposed to tell my parents first, particularly my parents. Oops. But my mother is out of the country so it's hard to tell her and I want to tell my parents together, or as close to together as I can (tell one, hang up and then call the next if they're still in seperate countries). And we haven't told his parents yet either.

My fiance (feels so weird to type that!) bought me a bridal magazine... yay! Can't wait til I'm done with work to flip through it!

I can understand wanting to tell your parents when they're together. It'll be an exciting moment for them as well and it will be a nice one for them to experience together, and with you.

How cute that he bought you one of those magazines. He already sounds like a good guy to me.

theknot.com is a WONDERFUL site. As sad as it is, I have already done a lot of research on that site. Being a bridesmaid in a wedding that was 11/6/04 I helped with a lot of the planning with the bride (actually it was SharonKay's wedding from TCS!) You and Dillion better make a knot page.

Well, here's hoping it'll be an exciting moment for them. I'm sure they'll have their doubts... they really like him but I bet they think I'm too young, rushing into things, etc.

Thanks for the well wishes guys... I needed that!
I feel better and more confident about standing up to anyone now!

Here's something to get you started:

This is my Knot bio, and here is a website listing MANY, MANY other bios that you can look at to get ideas!

I never cared about weddings before I started planning my own, but now I have a completely new appreciation for them and what it takes to plan one. Like I said before, I'd be more than happy to offer up some real-life advice if you need it down the road.
