I do not do well in large groups of more than ten people, but otherwise I'm very extroverted, lol I'm also very perverted around people who know me well.

I saw that someone else mentioned the Meyers-Briggs test. I'm an INFP all the way. I function best as an introvert, to use the MB language. I can force myself to behave in an extroverted way and this is becoming more comfortable to me. I've been a resident assistant, case manager, I'm currently a server, so I take on extroverted responsibilities and jobs. At the end of the day, however, I just want to be alone. If I'm around people too much I need "me time" to make up for it.

Jenny I was right in the middle of a detailed explanation of these things when the power blipped. So, instead of getting terribly detailed this time I'll keep it short and simple.

Introverts are thought of as more shy and reserved. They like smaller social circles and appreciate time alone.

Extroverts are generally more outgoing. They enjoy hanging out in large groups and may be the type to get antsy when forced to spend time alone.

There's a lot more to it than that, but that's a fairly bareboned description and should be enough to participate in the polls! Hope that helps!

why does that always happen when your doing something important?

i can be very shy around people i don't know and in a large group i always dissapear because i'm so quiet
i also need time alone to recharge, i guess i need this more if i have been surrounded by people for a long time.
my favorite things to do is play with my puppy or kits, play video games or get stuck into a book, i'm a little bookworm dork

if i'm with people i know, i am quiet extroverted, i make jokes and am talkative amongst friends but at the end of the day i'm not concerned about being alone, iv'e actually had too much alone time lately, the town i'm in has no-one my age and my Husband works sooooo much, sometimes until 11 at night, when that happens i just call up my bestie and have a three hour chat or visit this community, is great for lonliness

I'm also an INFP... apparently we're not too common.

Similarly, I can be extroverted when need be, but tend to need alone time to recharge.

I voted perverted
I don't fit the introverted/extroverted dichotomy. I'm introverted around strangers and need to have alone time to recharge, but with my friends I'm extremely extroverted. For me it's all about my comfort level-my friends accept my crazy side but strangers may be put off by it, especially since I have a strange sense of humor.

I'm definitely an extrovert most of the time, a pervert some of the time. If I'm in a pissy mood, I become an introvert for everyone else's safety
I'm very very surprised there are so many introverts!! Everyone seems so outgoing!!

Yeah me too. I started this thread thinking there were more extroverts at TCS than there really are!

Just a thought (and question of anyone would like to answer the extrovert here
)...

Is it possibly easier to "let go" and be yourself when you aren't face to face with the person/people you are talking to? I have a great friend who is so introverted she might as well be inside out!
But you put her in front of a computer or on the phone and she can let out the "wild" inside. She is no where near as self-concious when not in front of others.

Well, I'm very introverted, but I'm just as self conscious offline as I am online. In a way, I find it slightly harder here because everything I say is written in stone in front of anyone who happens to be reading.

Introvert here. I'm an accountant too, so it's just as well I like being ignored in my dark little back office!

I took the Myers Briggs years ago. Took it several times (free cuz I worked there) & I was always an INFP.

I consider myself VERY extroverted and outgoing, always the one who runs out & gives hugs & shakes hands, introduces myself & people around me. However there are times when I freaking hate humanity and want to go HIDE for a weekend, so I do that... and that's why I think I'm an "introvert with extrovert tendencies".

I will admit during PMS I'm a total introvert and yeah, it's for everyone's safety. But get me out to party & I'm all over the place extrovert, sometimes I get lost & stuff I go off from my crowd!

I'm definitely an introvert - need that "alone time" to recharge, but this is mainly because my job requires me to be such an extrovert. I enjoy meeting people, but prefer small social gatherings to parties, the bar scene, etc...
I get a lot of comments about how quiet I am sometimes, but that's just because I like to listen. I think you learn more that way. I don't have any problem speaking up when need be and sometimes surprise other people, and myself, when I get all riled up.
