Hi!

We are still having a terrible time capturing a female here and now another male has joined the colony. The trap just isn't working...I have a silly question- Once when I was at the vet, I saw someone bring a cat in a rubbermaid tub- It had holes cut out for breathing, of course. The cats are right in front of me at times when I feed them- Has anyone tried throwing a blanket over the cat and placing it in a rubbermaid tub to bring it for spaying? Is it easy for the vet to work that way, or should I just worry about getting them to the vet for spaying? It's still so cold out, I don't want to scare the cats away if I make a mistake...

Thanks!

Thanks TNR1!

I see two ways that I haven't tried yet. Will let you know how it goes.

I have done the "throw the blanket" thing successfully, but I was raised with livestock. I always wear welding gloves, a long sleeve, padded flannel under a jacket, and a pair of safety goggles. The cat will know something is up, just by the way you are dressed. And yes, the risks are great, including a botched attempt that only makes the cat more skittish.I hope that you find some other method that works. www.alleycat.org has suggestions in its resource center. Meanwhile, I'm sending loads & loads of encouragement & patience for you - keep up the good work!
