For other Canadian members (I don't think you have Presidents' Choice brand stuff down in the States...), I recently discovered President's Choice 'Green' Cat Litter (http://www.presidentschoice.ca/en/pr...&CategoryId=41) - it's basically the same as WBCL - the texture of the litter is a bit different, softer, but it has all the same qualities - flushable, renewable resource, clumping, no silica, not dusty, made from corn - and is MUCH cheaper - a 7 lb. bag costs $6.99, compared with around $15 for the same sized bag of WBCL. It keeps the smell down really well, and the clumps don't stick to the side of the box. It can be bought in the grocery store, which is nice, too. Just thought I'd share, in case anyone else is looking for a cheaper alternative to WBCL (I thought the chicken feed idea was great, but unfortunately couldn't find a feed supply store anywhere near me!).

I was actually intending on looking at pricing that out. So it is cheaper then eh? I saw it in the grocery store this week and was so tempted to pick some up. Another advantage for me is that I don't have to go 45 minutes out of my way to drive to find it, just go to the local grocery store.
It works well then?

I haven't seen that brand in the USA, but I love WBCL. I only pay $32.00 for a 34 pound bag of WBCL and have seen the 8 pound bag for $7.99. It must be a little cheaper down here. I will check it out though.

I thought President's choice was owned by Harris Teeter, but I can't seem to find if that's true.. I'll have a look when I go grocery shopping today..

Yes, def. cheaper - and yeah, the fact that you can just pick it up at the grocery store is a big advantage. I've only been using it for about a week, mind you, but so far it's every bit as good as the WBCL!

WOW, I am SO jealous - I never bought the 34 pound bag (not available where I shopped), so I'm not sure what it costs here, but the next size down (17 pounds, I think?) cost me about $33 at the local pet supply store, and about $26 if I took the half hour subway/bus ride to Petsmart and hauled it back (which really was too much work, so not a really good option). I would kill for 34 pounds of it for $30! The 7 pound bag costs around $15 here, I think. Things are definitely cheaper down there - I was in St. Louis last winter, and the cost of living down there blew my mind - soooo much cheaper than here, even when you take the exchange rate into account.

The "mulitcat" version in the 17lbs bag at Petsmart was $21 last time I bought it, but the "original" version was $23, which I think is weird. Still, you're right, it's about $10 worth of gas, or more just to get to the nearest Petsmart, so I can add that into the cost as well (Unless I'm already there, I pretty much haunt the place). The local pet store does sell Worlds best, but they sell the smallest bag for $13! I'll be picking up a few bags of the Green today, I need to empty my litter pan and clean it anyway.
Thanks for the price comparison! I would have figured it out eventually, but I'm lazy about math.
My dad actually called the States "the land of stuff". He is from Chicago orignally and says you can pretty much buy anything that your heart desires in the states, you just need to know where to look. I remember the last time we went down there to visit my grandmother, we bought some chocolate flavoured pop! I've never seen such a thing since...strange!

I live in a smaller town and our local pet store ordered in the WBCL for me in the large size. It's worth asking about.

Thanks Kylie. I'll have to look into that the next time I'm at the store.
