My other half has been in San Antonio Texas this past week and I'm only just getting over my complete jealousy
He's gone with work and will be back sometime on Sunday.

So..... can any of you guys from Texas let me know what I've been missing, the time difference is such that we barely get a few minutes to chat and I'm dying to know what it's like there. I'd really have loved to have gone but I just started my new job and couldn't take the time off

Since he's been 'working' (yeah right!!) I know he won't bring many pics back with him, he's off to see the alamo tomorrow, I hope he'll take some there.

Well, I moved from Texas to California. I visit every summer.

Here's a few things that come to mind:

Its HOT! Wear very short clothes.

Swim every day.

Ferrets are allowed to be pets there.

No one really has much of an accent.

Hope that helps.

I'm in San Antonio! Um... what are you missing? Cold weather? We're not as hick as we're portrayed... we do say y'all often, but we don't walk around in cowboy boots and hats! Hmm... what else?

If you're interested, I'll post some pictures I took around town during the vacation thread (or here if you really care).

Sorry - let me pick myself up off the floor
Sorry - couldn't resist. Maybe it's different in Dallas.

Okay let me just say *I* don't have a strong accent. Some people do but I'd say they're from Dallas.

Actually I've been told I don't have an accent. I used to have an English accent... back when I was young.

I'd love to see some pics, he's probably not taken any!!!!! Pinkdaisy, he's staying at the Mansion del rio hotel, do you know it? He just called home (at last! I can't wait to get some shuteye) They're going out to dinner with the training course people (he sounds less than enthusiastic - still hasn't adjusted to local time!) It's his first time to the US, and the first time he's gone abroad with work to somewhere I don't have to worry about him a whole lot (last time it was Azerbaijan and before that qatar!)

Mansion del Rio hotel? Are you serious? I'm SOOO jealous! http://www.lamansion.com/ I've walked by it before, it's gorgeous!

I'll post pictures tomorrow I guess, my bf has something planned for tonight so I'm guessing TCS time isn't on the menu.

How long is he staying here in town? Tell me what he thinks of good ol S.A...

Yep that's the hotel, he made me put it in my favourites incase I needed to get hold of him.

He leaves tomorrow pm (he arrrived last Sunday 9pm) he hasn't said much other than it's a nice place, we don't get to talk an awful lot because We're 6 hours ahead here. I'll look forward to the photos, as I said I bet he comes home with next to nothing! I've nagged and nagged but I don't think he's had a lot of time to himself.

Here are a few pictures I took, hope you like them!

The Alamo, at night:

The Riverwalk (if you look closely you can see nuns... and ducks!)

There are restaurants along the river, I don't think you can tell here:

My favorite picture and part of the river:

The Tower of the Americas... there's a restaurant up there!

I have tons more but they're at home and I'm not! Sorry these aren't that great... I was messing with the camera and hit on a bad setting, lol!

Aw thanks Sam. I love taking pictures - in fact if you looked at that "show me where you live" thread you can see in my living room I have some of these pictures up.

Texas is huge so I know there are places where you do find people with thick accents and cowboy boots and pickup trucks (or girls with big hair).... but that's not all that we are and I always get irritated when I see Texans stereotyped on TV.

Wow thanks!!! It looks like a lovely place, I swear I'm not jealous...... well not much anyway. He's due to call me in about two hours and has the morning free so I'm going to redouble my nagging efforts!!!!

He went to the Outback Steakhouse last night............ I had Super Noodles
Today I think I'll have........... more super noodles!!! It's so difficult to cook anything tasty for one.
