They generally reach their full size by the time they are a year old. It depends on what breed or crossbreed they are that determines their height.

Every time i look at rambo i think the same thing...he's already as big as Lucky and he's only 7 months old....and everyone keeps looking at him and going..."he's gonna be a big boy!" Poor lucky...used to be able to push him around....

I've noticed that the bigger the cat is, the longer they take to achieve their full size. My friend has a cat who at 19 months has not quit growing - he's currently 19.5 pounds and the vet thinks he has a ways to go - he appears to be a Turkish Van (but born in a barn so who knows what he really is). Most cats quit growing about a year old.

Both my cat stopped growing any tall, I would say around a year old. However both them continue to fill out, not getting any fatter just getting more meaty. (That doesn't sound quite right.) Gandalf (2 yrs) is around 14-15lb, he just seems to keep getting bigger. But then the cat we think fathered him is huge so I expected Gandalf to be large. Samwise is around 12-13 lbs now, his growth finally seems to be slowing at the ripe old age of 2yrs.

Haha, great thread! When I got them at 3 months, they were both pretty much the same size..Duke was a bit bigger, but not much. I adopted my 2 from Alabama 3 months ago and they are now 6.5 months old. Duke is 9lbs 8 oz and Cosmo is 5lb 4oz, haha BIG difference in 3 months.

This was a month ago

But that's ok, as twins, it was extremely hard to tell them apart. This makes it much easier (except when they're sleeping and all smooshed up together LOL)

I think Charlotte was closer to 1.5 years old when she seemed to stop growing. Izzie is only one year old and is still has a smaller frame than Charlotte (10.5 lb). I hope she grows a little more even though she is 8 lbs.

is he fat? he must be cause 11 pounds is ideal adult weight at 1+ years. Granted this is domestic cat.

Okay, I feel a bit worried now. Olga is 5.5 months and only weighs 4lbs. I thought this was about right. Am I wrong? I know she was the runt but she's a Persian so she should be on the heavy side shouldn't she? If she is under weight, how can i fatten her up a bit? She loves to eat, will eat anything, she's free fed Science Diet (nature's best). Maybe she's just little??

Izzie isn't a persian, but she was about 6 lbs at 6 months old. Then out of the blue, she sprouted and gained 2 pounds in one month!!

He's not necessarily fat, bc at 6 months Milo weighed about 9-10 lbs. & he was really thin (that awkward kitten stage). He's almost a year now and he's about 15-16 lbs. and he does look a little chubby. So now we are working on losing a little weight.

My two are nearly 5 months old, and Alfie is 7lbs whilst Max is nearly 5lbs. They were the same size when i got them, and now there's a HUGE difference!! Both are healthy, happy, and full of beans, just growing at different rates I presume

Anytime I go to the vet - I ask is her weight normal?
She is rather petite but has grown and filled out more than I thought. She gain a lb a mn from 5lbs to 8lbs total. Once she started getting a pot belly I figured she was done growing!

Sadie & Dexter are brother & sister who are 5 yrs old.
She weighs about 9lbs...he is almost 15lbs.
He is a much larger cat.
Even though they were spayed & neutered at 6 mos. they are very gender specific.
She is all girl.
He is all boy.

I get so much criticisms from family and friends about how big my Sidney is getting. She is about 13-14 lbs and is about 7 months old. They don't realize or dont believe how little I do feed her.

Poor thing. I really restrict the amount of her daily food intake, and I fear she is hungry all the time. She is always begging for more food in her bowl, and she will try to eat the dog's food when we aren't looking. Before work each day, I give her 1/2 a cup of dry food. Even though I want to put more so she can have some to eat all through the day, she unfortunately likes to inhale all of itin one sitting. She doesnt get to eat again until 6 or 7 pm, and then she gets another 1/3 of a cup of dry food. This doesnt seem like alot to me, but she keeps growing bigger.

I dont want her to be hungry, but I dont want her unhealthy b/c she's overweight. Any suggestions for this worried mom?

What kind of food are you giving Sidney? That can make a real difference.
