So I've been checking Chloe out to make sure we're ready for her when she's ready to have these babies. I have some stupid questions about "how to tell"... she is a medium haired kitty, and it looks to me as though she's been taking care of getting the hair around the nipples removed for the babies, and her nipples are very pink, but they all seem to have a white "chapped" appearance to them, is this normal? It's kind of hard to explain, but like at the tip of the nipple, it looks almost like chapped lip skin... does that make sense? She doesn't seem to be doing any nesting or anything like that, but I'm not sure how far in advance to leave kitty beds laying about. She's taken to dropping my daughter's panties in her water dish, LOL so I don't want to leave tons of blankets and towels for her to drag all over. This morning I got some cute pics of her playing with the boogie mat, want to make sure she doesn't get out of shape living the luxury life of a pregnant mama all day
.

Thanks in advance.

I'm not a person with any medical training, just someone whose been around pregnant cats and who has been pregnant myself....

I think that white stuff is the beginning of the thick milk that mothers make called colostrum, which contains a lot of extra nutrients for the newborns. It also contains a lot of the mother's immunities to illnesses to help the babies through their first weeks. Right now, its forming a kind of plug in the nipples, but when they start nursing they'll get the benefit of it.
