okay let me just think here and get this straight. The thing hanging is not a light bulb... he did not die of suffocation so I'm guessing that it is not a rope or some type of a cord he could hang himself on... the man is laying on the floor... there is nothing around him other then whatever is hanging?? Is there anything in the room with him other then the thing hanging?

Ok, ok....the man hanged himself by standing on a block of ice until it melted. That explains the puddle on the floor, and the thing that's hanging (him).

I told this riddle to my Grandfather, and he got it right off... he said that riddle is over 40 years old! He didn't like any of the other ones... he said they were too hard, and too complicated to solve.... but I liked them!
