Today is Ash Wednesday, the beginning of Lent. Are you giving anything up?

I always give up food related things on holidays or whatever. Last Lent I went vegetarian, new years I went vegan . . .I think I'll give up soda and coffee just for lent. It's like the only unhealthy habit I have left . . .

We´re Catholics (Gema & I ) and we don´t eat meat all fridays until the holy week... During the holy week repeat the same Thurday, Friday & Saturday holy days.

I don't observe this, but my best friend does and I love to tease her with the things she gives up for Lent. (It's usually chocolate, coffee, etc.)
I'm so mean!

I do observe Ash Wednesday. As for giving something up, I think that's often perceived as some favourite food item, or favourite activity, or... I prefer to think of it as a way to be intentional about changing some habit or practice that I'm not happy with or feel undisciplined/sloppy about. I'll admit I haven't really thought about what that might be this year -- thanks for the reminder.
