Well the great news is, my bf and I are closing on a house at the end of this month

I am so excited! I am also concerned with making this as easy on Dori as I can. With the recent asthma diagnosis and vet visits I know she has been stressed out lately and things are finally settling down.
I want to change the type of litter she uses and I want to do it gradually. With us moving in 4 weeks or so, should I wait to make any changes to her litter until after we move and get settled in? I don't want to disrupt too much of her life and I imagine a move is going to be enough change for her.

IMHO, I would wait till after the move to make changes. The less stress, the better!

Congrats on the house! Have lots of fun redecorating!

Oh, and 1 very important piece of advice....close as close to the end of the month as possible! The mortgage company must give you at least 20 days before you need to make your first payment. If you close at the end of the month, you get a free month in the house.

When I moved house last, I was going to scrub out the litter tray before I took it (and the cat) to the new house. But in the end I changed my mind and left the usual scrub-out until after we'd been in the new house for a few days, and she had used the tray several times, just to be sure that it still smelled like her tray, and she knew where to find it.
Good luck in your new home.

Yes, I'm so thrilled about your new home, Tanya!
Yes, this will be quite a transition for Dori, but I was thinking, maybe you would want to go ahead and be making this gradual litter transition for her. I don't imagine she is feeling stress free when suffering asthma symptoms which can be exacerbated by her current litter. This is just my thought, so everyone feel free to disagree with me if you'd like!

Personally, since cats health is more directly linked to their stress than most other animals, I'm inclined to agree with Stephanie, start switching to a dust free litter before moving (plus, that means you won't have the dusty litter in the new house!) so Dori can be in tip top condition when she's moved. I find that switching the litter box is less stressful to cats than one may expect.

I changed Jazzy's cat litter three times with no problem.

About moving, we moved a few times. As soon as we get to the new place I put his litter in the box right away with his new cat litter.

I hope you are not going to have any problems.

Yes Stephanie! You remember correctly.
I tried switching her to WBCL and she decided she hated it once the complete change was done and thought my clothes were much better to go on
I switched her back to her Fresh Step at that point. I was going to try swheat scoop but I heard thats similar to WBCL, so maybe that won't work, I haven't tried it yet. Hissy mentioned something when I posted about her asthma and litter and I can't find the post the discussion was on
I need to keep looking.
