Okay... who wanted to be a vet when they were younger, or still wants to be a vet now?

I am 15 years old, and an aspiring veterinarian. I am not going to let anything come in my way of becoming a vet! It's my life-long dream!

How about you?

I voted no - I have a different dream.
When I was about 6yrs, I wanted to be a vet, but then I realised that you actually have to operate and things - so that ambition disappeared pretty quickly (i'm not squeemish, I would just rather not operate on animals!)

You want to be a vet, that's cool! I went out with a guy, for years, who wanted to be a vet! He had to do SO much work experience! I recommend that you get as much experience with Vets and possibly generally working with animals - shelters, zoos etc as this will look really good on your application for Uni and your CV/Resume!

Good Luck with it!

Hey Susan, not the change the subject or anything, but, how'd you get "Rosie and Sophie's Mom" under your name by your avatar? Does that come when you can make a custom avatar?

Thank-you very much! I am looking for a veterinary hospital to accept teenage volunteers, but most of them around here don't!
Thanks for the words of encouragement!

I know thats weird, but i faint from seeing my own blood these days. But i still want to put needles into other people.. Do you get what i mean?
I dont want to be an animal doctor though i cant handle to see an animal die.

I get what you all mean by not wanting to see an animal die. It's not that it doesn't bug me to see an animal die, it's that I can live with it. I don't want that to sound bad, but, I can deal with it. I say a prayer, give a moment of silence, maybe even cry a little for them, but, God always gets me through it. Tri-Bi, a feral cat outside, has lost two kittens in her litter of 5, both of which I found, tried to save, and couldn't, then buried. And it's really hard, but, when you think about all the lives that will be saved, it's worth it, in my opinion, anyway. I love animals, and I never want to see one die, but, sometimes it's for the better, and you can't save them all.... we all die on this earth sometime. But, I can understand where you guys are coming from..... not many people can handle to see an animal suffer and die.

I work at an animal hospital and I'm taking a course to become a technician. It can be a tough job. I have seen many animals put down and have seen a lot of owners not taking the best care they should of their animals. My forearms are all scarred up from scratches and I've been bitten a few times. I really do enjoy my job.

I don't want to become a vet. What I would love to do is run my own shelter once I get my own house and get settled. But I figure this is great experience for me.

Hey, GratefulBear,
What's your cat's name, CJ, stand for? My cat's name is CJ, and it stands for Callmity Jane.... I don't know if I've already asked you this before or not, so, I'm asking again... lol! Don't be annoyed!

Living in the land of not enough time
Cassie, I wanted to be a vet my entire childhood. Then, as I was getting taking college-prep courses, my parents talked me out of it. To this day, I regret it. Don't let anyone stand in your way!

See if there is a local vet who would be willing to let you work in his office! I know my vet has high school kids cleaning cages and taking care of her cats living at the office.
