Hi, I've just found this site, and thought I'd join and say hello.

After loosing 16 yr old Gizmo 3 yrs ago it was the usual "never again". "Too much upset, too much of a tie" etc etc.

Then last year our son was helping at a recsue centre in his area. He was taken by a hard to home big tabby cat, with attitude. Everyone coming in wanting a cuddly cat didn't want to know a cat that took a swipe at you, or bit when you stroked him just a bit too long.

The rescue centre lady knew he wasn't really nasty, just had a mind of his own.

Anyway, although we were out of their area, they agreed to let us have him. He joined us last July, and he's settled in fine. Oh, he still snaps if he gets fed up with you, but not nasty, and there's no real claws out, or hard biting, it's as if he knows really just how far he can go, and likes to scare you, we don't let him get away with it, he has to put up with us keeping our hand in place and giving him another stroke, so he knows it doesn't work.

He's not a lap cat, liking his own space. But recently he's come to me on the sofa a couple of times, so there's still hope.

Anyway, that's me and Oz for now, I hope to become an active member of this site.

Welcome to TCS!

Oz sounds like my Joji when I adopted her (or the other way around). She's been with me 10 years. She sleeps with me and it is only at those times she's willing to cuddle. She'll never be a lap cat though, but I don't mind.

Hi, Sierra and I welcome you and Oz to TCS!
So glad you've joined us and look forward to getting to know you better!
Oz sounds like such a sweet little boy so smart and spoiled he knows just how he likes things and is quick to let you know!
I am so thankful you opened your wounded heart to allow yourself to love again, I know this can be so very difficult after such an incredible loss as your precious Gizmo.
I would be so happy to help you in any way as you learn your way around the site. Please, simply click on my user name and send me a Private Message!

Thank you for the welcome, and offer to help. I'm a member of another site that uses the same format as this, so I think I can manage, it's very similar.

I joined the other site when my daughter introduced me to it, it's for Siamese cat owners though, she joined when she got 2 rescue Siamese, and then later through the site got a Devon Rex kitten. But although they're friendly enough, they are really focused on their breed, which is understandable.

I've been looking for something else, wher my own moggy won't be out of place, and is active, there are lots of sites out there, but not many people use them.

I'm looking forward to being able to post pictures, I don't have a web site to set links to, so I'll just have to be busy and post loads.

Thanks again. Oh, my real name is Tricia by the way.

Welcome!

Oz sounds like a little personality! I have always found that male ginger tabbies in particular know exactly what they want, don't they?

Do you have any pictures of him that you can post?

Welcome to TCS! That sounds a bit like Buddy. We got him recently and he has that "over stimulated" problem if he gets to much petting. He also likes to bite and claw a little but he will not break the skin and usually ends with a lick if its a bite. Sometimes he has had an extreamly crazy look to him however so I still wonder if he might go to far or snap one of these days. If he would stop attacking our other cat things would be great.

Welcome to the site Tricia! Oz sounds like a great kitty with a strong purrsonality.
I think it's great that you were willing to take in a cat that has a mind of his own.
