I need help! The vet gave Char a worming medecine today because he had never been dewormed before. He didn't have any but it was done as a precaution. I have to change his litter after he goes but NOTHING is open today for me to buy more litter. It is a Korean national holiday and the whole base shut down for it. What can I use for him as a temp substitute???
hubby wants to use dirt but I don't know about that...

I've seen members mention organic potting soil if you have any. If there's nothing else available, I guess plain dirt or sand will have to do - both are natural and would be something cats would use. Hopefully, the dirt is not contaminated with chemicals. Make sure there is no glass, pop-tops, etc. in it that could cut his feet.

Very glad you were able to get Charcoal to the vet. What did the doctor say about Charcoal sleeping so much, and his lack of appetite? Hope your kitten's ok.

He thinks Char has kitty pnuemonia. They gave me more Clavamox. I am worried about him but he said all I can do is watch him and if he starts breathing funny, bring him back.

You can use dried beans or even uncooked rice in a pinch.

I never would have thought of uncooked rice..Would rabbit shavings work? I was debating on newspaper too..

You can use rabbit food - alfalfa pellets, or even chicken feed crumbles, shredded newspaper in a pinch as well.

I am not quite sure why you would need to change the litter. If he does not have any worms, and it was done as a precaution, you should not have to change the litter. Scooping it after he uses it should be just fine.

I'm using newspaper in my cat's box while his paw heals. It's actually on top of the litter so he can still smell it in there. He just shreds the paper a little because he's still trying to cover his mess.
