Change of food for senior cats?

Hi guys

We thought Danielle was 5 years old. (so said the shelter).

The Vet believes she is at least 12, (OY) or there abouts, because of the condition of her mouth.

I asked him if we should change her food to the Senior kind, and he said it really didn't make much of a difference. He said that was more important in dogs than cats.

Does anyone have an opinion on this matter?

Thanks.

senior food has less protein, fat and calories because older cats are usually less active this food helps to maintain a healthy weight. maybe your cat is at a good weight now and thats why vet said it didnt matter much.
