Peaches, when you can find one ripe are not as juicy as they used to be. At one time you could count on the juice from the peach ruining your shirt and if it was a really good peach, your pants as well.

Bananas are not as sweet as they used to be, in fact they are down right bland.

Time speeds up.Years ago when you were a child and you heard that Christmas was 10 days away, you thought you would die waiting that long and a coma was preferable to waiting. Now you say "Oh my god...ten days, I'll never finish on time!"

When you were growing up let's say in the 1970s and you calculated how old you would be in the year 2000, which seemed light years away (see time speeds up entry) You thought, boy will I be old!

So what have YOU noticed, along the way?

I've noticed that:

Nothing is sacred anymore in today's world.

Nothing is left to the imagination.

Most kids have no respect.

Suddenly the whole world is coming out of the closet.

I'll think of more.

I've noticed children are less respectful of adults in general than when I was a child. (Including my own!)

Most everyone locks their doors, cars, computers (...and often, minds.
)

Older women are having babies. Who will be their grandparents?

Plastic surgery tries to defy ageing. But in many ways, it only accents it by making the person seem 'odd' somehow. Out of focus. The details aren't adding up to the whole picture. (Especially if you look at necks and hands.)

The cursor on this writing screen blinks like this: Blink blink. Brief pause. Blink blink. Brief pause. Blink blink.

Houses that were built in the 70's and 80's look tired.

There is nothing new under the sun. We humans just keep rotating around.

I've noticed:

~that sunsets and sunrises are beautiful.
~that ice cream tastes better when you don't eat an entire pint all at once.
~you get back what you put out there...and you get it in spades.
~Death is permanent, and life is permanent.
~A walk through a moonlit desert is not to be disturbed with talk but cherished in silence.
~faith is a fundamental pillar of a healthy mind.
~wonder and awe are special moments not to be questioned, just experienced.
~I can get up one more time then I'm knocked down.
~Focusing on abundance, rather than lack, is part of being a happy soul.

Lol!! It's too true.
Well I've noticed that time does move faster as I get older. Feels like I've done nothing at all over the years, and this last one felt like a month

**Keep in mind I work in a fast food restaurant that's trying to stay caught up with every other fast food place on the planet, and so these are some "pet peeves"--Maybe I"m on the wrong post?? lol Well keep reading...it's not all bad! lol

I've noticed:
-People in general are ruder than ever
-People in general are stupider than ever (did we have an era that everyone dropped their babies???)

-Winters are shorter, warmer and not as much snow
-Springs are still the best season around

Ive noticed that:

People in general are alot lazier than they used to be, and that convenience is going overboard.

I've noticed that people can get their driving license out of a box of Cracker Jacks. There's no way they can get it through a driving school!

I've noticed over the years:

Too many food choices in the grocery store. Fat free, sugar free, diet etc....
Things (possessions) seem alot less important to acquire.
I become more tolerant of dirt in my house.
People are more impatient.
When you are in your 40's like me people that are in there 60's don't look as old as they did when you were in your 20's.
Thank goodness for the internet-otherwise I wouldn't have TCS!!

-Children are ruled by tv, video games, movies, and the computer. If you tell a child these days to go outside and play, they look at you like you have lost your mind!
-From working in retail you notice how much audacity kids have now,, Ive seen kids yelling at their parents, hitting them, rolling around on the ground, etc. When I was little my mom would have jerked my behind up in the middle of the store,, I knew better than to talk back to.
-People are always in a hurry and we have so many time saving devices(i.e. microwave, faxes, cell phones, computers, etc) and even less time than the world used to have
-People are as friendly to strangers, and this is changing so quickly. When I was 5 or so I remember everyone always smiling and waving and being polite, no one does this anymore...it's sad really.

The biggest thing I have noticed. Our rights are slowly being stripped away from us by law makers who only think of themselves and what THEY believe is right.
There are too many people with a "me first" attitude.
That I receive more love and respect from my cats, especially my EXOTICS, than I do people. Except for my wife, she is very loving

I have seen a lot of this too. Kids need to be disciplined like they used to. A good crack on the behind, a firm no and be sent to your room WITHOUT anything to do. No phone, games, computer and so on. This time out garbage does not work and does not teach discipline. Sorry a little off topic

I've noticed that:

When you reach your 20's you're not necessarily an adult.

You can still not know what you want to do when you grow up.

Elderly people are the most interesting people you could ever dream to meet.

People are overly judgemental over appearance.

and I had more before I started to type - I will think on!

Oh, another one!

Children try to grow up too fast - you don't see 12 year olds playing with dolls any more, they are pushing their own real baby (this is seen a lot around my area)

Parents dress their children like they dress themselves.

There are so many good points in this thread, but this one seems to agree with what I've noticed about how people just don't seem to care as much about taking PRIDE in their work. All ages apply, too. Doesn't anyone care about doing a good job? Especially tradesmen! It seems like it's all about money, money, money. Do as little as possible, then get out of there.
Like, Let's get this little cracker-box house built quick, then go on to the next, using cheap material & cheap labor, etc. etc..

Also, I live in an area of Florida that is being developed so fast... none of these new towns have ANY personality! No history! It's all streets full of cracker-box houses, shopping plazas & traffic. And Wal-marts every 3 miles.
We are losing our history, our heritage. All of these wonderful cultures in our beautiful country are slowly disappearing. Will this generation care about the satisfaction that comes from actually taking time to learn how to cook from scratch? How to garden, or make quilts like their Grandparents did? Does it matter anymore, or should we teach them to just run to Wal-Mart for a blanket that they will throw away next year, if not sooner?
It has become a disposable society. And we older people will probably be next.
Everything is becoming so FAKE.

I can definitely understand about not having any time. I work 10 - 11 hour days just to pay the bills. And when I come home alls I want to do is sleep!

We barely afford our 1 bedroom apt. in Trenton. There is no way we could be able to afford a house like we want to. The house my grandmother owns is $4,000 in taxes a year alone!! It seems everything goes up in price except your paycheck!

I am thinking about moving down south or out west. The north east is just to expensive for us to live in. We aren't able to save any money for our future.

I've noticed that it's easier to see negativity than to focus on positivity...

How about this challenge...instead of what's bad, let's see what's good that we've noticed along the way.

Here, I'll start:
~I've noticed that the trust of a friend makes me feel good.

Now you...

Fruit is better when you buy it from a roadside stand where it's grown! I remember picking apricots in Utah and they'd be so soft and mushy, but perfectly ripe and sweet with no tang at all to them. Buy them in a store and YUCK!!!!!!!

As for people? I'm tired of no one ever thinking or planning ahead. Uh, why do they get into the number 1 lane when they need to get off at the very next exit? That doesn't just happen here in CA anymore, I've seen it beginning to happen elsewhere too. And the thinking and planning ahead isn't just about driving, it's about everything. How about people who write you a check and you don't get around to cashing it right away so you cash it a month later or so and then they jump you for putting their account into the negative? Excuse me? You're supposed to leave that money in the account until the check clears, not spend it because it's there.

Things I have noticed:

When I am absolutely certain that I cannot get back up and go on, I always turn out to be wrong.

It is best not to take life too seriously. It isn't permanent.

Never pass up an opportunity to laugh. There will be plenty of times when you just can't manage it, so don't let one go by.

Almost everyone is luckier and wealthier than they think that they are.

There are many people in the world who will never in their lives, ever, have one long drink of cold, clear, fresh water. And many others who take abundance in their lives for granted.

There are no alternate life paths.

It is helpful if one can avoid wallowing in either guilt or pride.

To the degree that it is possible to accept completely what is, in the moment, it is possible to have peace of mind.
