Hi! I am new to the site, and I know that this question has been asked a ton of times--but I just would like to have advice for this specific scenario:

My wife and I have an 8 month old kitten (who is larger) that we have had for about 4 months now. We recently adopted a healthy 4 month old kitten (who is smaller). Now, we did the whole "seperate rooms" thing until they seemed remotely used to each other's smell. However, when we introduce them face to face--the same thing happens. They start off rubbing against each other and licking each other. Then the big cat starts to play and they are playing, however then it starts getting too rough and the new kitten starts hissing and fighting. Soon it becomes a brawl. I never see blood, but I do see hair flying and it is just hard to watch so we split them up. Now, should we just let them go? I don't want to get to the point of blood but I don't know when too rough is too rough. I think they want to be friends, the new kitten just gets frightened quickly. Anyway, just curious if you have any advice. Thanks.

Hi

I'm afraid I dont know the answer but I also would like to know what other people think on this. I have a 6 month old kitten and am wondering if I should get another kitten to keep her company as she seems lonely and bored.

Try puting them in thier carriers, near each other, so they can see each other or let them play for about 10 mins a day then seperate them, then increase it until they are use to each other... They that out. You may waht to talk you your vet, he/she might have some ideas that would do the trick.

The new kitten may be shy and need to come out of his shell.... new home new sights and smell can be scary.
