I don't know why people think they can sue for anything these days!!!!

Also, I don't know why she thought she might have a heart attack from this. People are wayyyy too sensitive!

Glad to know that it isn't just me, you can copy and paste the link that is there into your web browser address bar and it will bring it up.

Whoops. Sorry about that. I put the link in the part where it asks you if you want to name it. I fixed it.... I think.
Yup, that did it! Good job!
Yep, it works fine now! Yikes, remind me not to surprise anyone with cookies!!
Yeah, I read that story. I can't believe they found in favor of the neighbor! I really think that the girls wanted to do something nice. Instead they got a quick lesson that "No good deed ever goes unpunished".

Shameful, that.

Love thy neighbor, get sued?
Makes you think twice about trying to do something nice for the neighbors, eh?

I saw that today and what's even worse is that the creepy neighbor won!
thats what you get for being nice? damn! and the girls stayed home making cookies instead of going to a party where they thought there would be 'drinking and cursing' (thats what the article said right?) that will teach those teens not to go to drinking parties! what a horrible neighbor

Moving this thread to IMO, as it deals with a current event issue.

And shame on this judge for reacting to that suit.
Agreed, this is completely ridiculous. At least the judge didn't award the neighbor witch Pain and Suffering compensation, which she did apparently try for.

This is just one of those stories where all you can do is roll your eyes.

And make you hate American society. Is it any wonder that more and more legislation trying to limit lawsuits is being pushed? The woman is scared and startled that someone knocks on her door, and she is awarded $900? Two girls are punished for kindness? Two words: that sucks.

It's just ridiculous what actually makes it to court. And I love the warnings out now because of all the lawsuits companies have had against them.

Stupid Warnings Awards

It's really just a shame that people take advantage of the court system like this.

I saw an update, in my morning paper. A fund has been started, to pay the $900.00. This case got massive Internet coverage, when the Drudge Report picked it up. People from all over the country have contributed and several have offered to pay the whole thing. Otis Spunkmeyer Cookies has weighed in, too. They don't believe that "anyone should be sued, over cookies."

I'm glad that people have started donating to the cause. I thought about that last night.
What an idiot, now if she needs help herself everyone is going to run off afraid.
Just an update:

I don't know about any of these other places where you could donate, but a local station here, KOA (talk radio) covered the story of the girls and decided to raise money to cover their bill. They actually raised over $4,000 for their cause! They gave the two girls the check today for $936 (the exact amount of the lady's settlement), and the rest went to the Never Forgotten Fund, which is a charity that helps children of Firefighters and Police Officers killed in the line of dudy with education expenses and college tuition.
