I have a 2 yr old female cat who had no behavior problems until I brought a 2 month old male kitten (not yet neutered) into the house (this was a month ago). Now the female blocks the kitten from entering certain parts of the house and often chases the kitten into hiding, and they have even had two pretty serious fights, broken up before they were injured thankfully. The kitten is really scared of the older cat, and the older cat seems really stressed out by the kittens being there, because once she is in a seperate room she purrs and plays happily. I honestly don't know how to get them to be friends, or at least how to get the fighting to stop. Can anyone offer any advice?

thank you much

You should have introduced them gradually. The kitten has an insurmountable amout of energy and that can be tiring to an older cat. The females especially will drive a kitten away from them, instinct more than anything. Getting your kitten neutered will help, but my guess is he is jumping all over your female and annoying her greatly.

Look into www.biovet.com and get a few of the plug ins. Make sure you have a tall cat post where your female can get out of the way of your kitten's burst of energy. She is just putting him in his place, because she is alpha cat
