I have a 3 year old tabby cat, she has been pulling out the fur on her stomach lately. WHat could be wrong with her? help!

I've been doing some research on this lately because our new cat has started pulling out fur. Sometimes when a cat pulls out fur it can be a result of many different things - stress, a skin condition, fleas, an allergy... has anything changed for your cat lately?

I was told to watch it closely and if it continues then to take Max to the vet... I would recommend a vet visit also since your cat's pulling seems to be more concentrated (my cat doesn't pull in a specific place).

Pulling fur can be a response to pain. Have you been to the vet recently? I had one cat that started pulling the fur out on her belly. When I took her in to the vet, they did an xray and found an obstruction in her. She had surgery the following day-

It can also be an allergy to food, or a response from a flea treatment or fleas and other parasites. Or just plain stress

She had worms but we gave her medicine a week ago. Could it have been from the worms?help!

I think cat's can surely sense things not being "right" and react to it. Wether it is in their owner or themselves, they have a sense about them and of course if it is pain then of course they feel that. I hope for both of you it was only worms and the stress of not feeling well, my best wishes for each of you.

I think you should definitely take her to the vet. How long has she been pulling?

About three months, before she only pulled a little tiny area but now she has pulled all down her legs and stomach. I'm so worried.

Yup...time for a vet visit. I agree with Hissy, this could be a pain reaction...how are her stools? Any issues you've noticed? I hate to keep saying this, but yes, I've had a cat who did (still does when not feeling well) this...in his case it was a pain reaction for when his ibd is not under good control and he gets into pancreatitis as well

3 months of fur pulling? Get your cat to a feline specialist and find out why. Good luck-

My cat did the same thing and ended up having pretty bad flea allergies. Hopefully it is something as easily treatable as that.
