I need help getting two male cats to share the apartment without fighting.

I have a 10 year old male kitty and have recently moved in with a freind who also has a 2 year old male,most of the time they ignore each other and stay in different parts of the apartemnt bt my cat at times will seemingly stalk my freinds cat and hisses and a few swats ensue which is unacceptable.

What i need desperatly is a way to help them get along with each other,because neither of us will part with our cats,please help.

First fo all - welcome to the catsite.

Introduce the two slowly - lotsocats has suggested rubbing each with a towel and then rubbing that on the other kitty. That seems like a good idea and I am sure she will jump in here with other suggestions. She appears to be knowledgable in this area!


I would ask if they are both neutered? This can make a big difference in the dominence issue....
