Well I haven't been here in awhile but a week ago Sunday my dear Ruffles was found. I woke up that morning and he was in his sleeping spot right outside our bedroom where he always is. I got up went downstairs then back up and went to touch him and say get up you lazy kitty and he was stiff as he could be
I yelled for my sleeping hubby and he jumps out of bed and dashes in saying NO NO the whole time. I was crying and yelling telling him to do CPR on my precious Ruffles but he looked up and said honey it's to late he has been here all night I am sure.

So of course I am in tears all day and the next and still catch my self looking for him in the house.

I am wondering when I will wake up from the nightmare! My Ruffles can NOT be gone! He was only 2 yrs old! Healthy as he could be! I talked to the vet and he looked over him. (YES I carried my kitty to the vet because I wanted to know!) He says it was a heart attack, stroke or a blood clot in the brain. There was nothing we could have done. But did look like he went in his sleep and didn't suffer.

I am so sorry for you to have had such a terrible shock like that. The same thing happened to me years ago with my 4 year old Sammy - one morning we simply found him dead. It is so mind-numbing and everything in you screams 'why?' My thoughts are with you over this.

That is so tragic and unexpected. Ruffles was with you for such a short time. The vet was probably right in that it would have been quick and painless. You just never know when these things will happen. Everything looks good from the outside.
Take comfort in the knowledge that Ruffles was a loved and happy cat and he is happy and whole playing at the Rainbow Bridge
My thoughts are with you

I'm so sorry for your loss of Ruffles, and it's difficult when it is so sudden. Thinking of you, and hoping time will help your grief heal.

I know you are in shock and that is understandable. It was more than likely something genetic that got him at such a young age. The saving grace is that he did not suffer. It will take some time for you to get the final image of him out of your head, so my suggestion to you would be to plaster your refigerator with any pictures you have of him in life. That way this would be how you will remember him, and not in the final moment.
