i just got a kitten in november. he was born in early october. its now january and hes only grown a little since we got him. shouldnt he be almost half grown by now? what age is it normal to get a male cat 'fixed'?also it seems as if he has adhd or somthing lol. no matter how many times we punish him, he wont stop attacking my oldest cat, but she wont fight him back cuz hes just a baby. we have another 2 yr old male cat for him to play with too, why wont he leave the older one alone?

As long as he is 2 pounds...he can be fixed now....male kittens tend to bounce back from surgery a lot faster. I had my male fixed at 5 monthes...but the rescue I volunteer with neuters at 10-12 weeks.

Problem with that is it is so hard to tell when that is going to start to happen. It is different for all cats, some start spraying young and some never do it. It is most likely going to happen and once it does, it won't stop. Your house will smell faster then you know what is happening. It happened to me. We say 12 weeks or 2 pounds, whatever comes first. Look around for a low cost clinic. Or call a shelter or humane society near you and say that you are trying to find a low cost spay neuter clinic or veterinary clinic and they should be able to help you find one. They may even give out certificates you pay them for very cheap and then you take the certificate to a regular vet.

A cat may be spayed or neutered after 8 weeks old. A study was done at the Univ od Michigan Vet School, fixing cats at 8 weeks and at 6 months. No difference was seen. Safe to spay/neuter at 8 weeks

Please do not "punish" your cat. They do not respond to punishment like dogs do, and it will create an aggressive cat. Get your cat neutered and then the aggression will stop soon afterwards, but an intact cat, is an aggressive cat simply because he is following the pull of the chemicals in his body.
