This poor thing! I'm so glad that the family found it and hopefully they can raise the money they need to help with the vet bills.
Here's a link to the story, there are some pics of the cat as well. Story

Girl Saves Cat Found Frozen Stiff In Snow
Cat's Tail, Parts Of Ears Must Be Amputated

POSTED: 7:35 am EST February 1, 2005
UPDATED: 8:10 am EST February 1, 2005

A cat discovered frozen stiff and stuck into the ground in 20 below zero weather near a Minnesota bus stop will lose its tail and part of its ears but will survive, according to Local 6 News.

The cat, named Popsie for Popsicle, was discovered by an 8-year-old girl as

She heard a meow and found the cat.

"She was literally frozen stiff," rescuer Jacki Hietala said. "She was frozen to the ground. Her claws were extended into the snow bank."

The family brought the cat home and put her under a dryer for hours to thaw out.

The cat lost part of her ears and paw pads and her tail needs to be amputated after being frostbitten.

The owner of the cat has not come forward, but the whole neighborhood is rallying around this once-frozen feline, offering it all the warmth and comforts of home.

The family is taking up a collection to help save the cat.

Poor poor kitty. I'm glad she was rescued but that's awful that she had to go through that and that she has to have her ears and tail amputated.
Well, I hope she finds a new home where she can stay indoors all the time.

This was in my local paper. Evidently the people who found her want to keep her but are unemployed and have no money to save her life.

oh! What a heartwrenching/heartwarming story at the same time. So if they're unemployed, no offense, but wouldn't they have time to go search for her? and if it's that cold why even let her out!!!

Sasha, re-read the post above yours. The people that FOUND the cat are unemployed. Not the people who lost the cat. They don't know who lost the cat.

So glad to hear she was rescued. I would like to think that god hears the many prayers that I say everyday for the one's that are abused, neglected and out in the bitter cold weather.
I hope everything works out for this little girl.

God bless the little girl who found that cat and the family that is now caring for it. Please let us know if there is a way that people out-of-state can donate to the cat's operation fund.
