Hi guys,, havent been online in 3 days. I am sick and it is my fault. Most of you probably know that we're vacationing for a week in Florida in March,,well my philosophy is tan fat looks better than white fat(LOL) so I went and bought a membership to one of those tanning places. I bought some great lotion and tanned for the 15 minutes that the lady reccommended,,well, I am burnt to a crisp. And when I say burnt, I mean really burnt. Today is the first day I can sit down,,I ahave had to lay on my side for the past couple of days. I am burnt so badly that I have little bubbles on my chest and in the places where I am burned really bad(my back) my skin is bleeding. Yuck, I know, believe me! Yesterday when I was trying to fill a cup with water in the bathroom to put in Conner's water dish I got dizzy, and this isnt unusual since I have iron problems, but it usually goes away after 4-5 secs. It wasnt going away, and the next thing I know I was picking myself up off the floor, I had fainted and in the process of falling hit my head on the comode. So, I am burnt, I have a dull ache in the side of my head, and I am now legitamately getting sick!YUCK! My 'Psychology of Adjustment" professor says there are people who can think themselves out of being sick,,,well I have been thinking real hard, and well,,*cough, cough* *sneeze, sneeze* its not working. So if any of you would be kind enough to toss some of those good thoughts this way so maybe our thought will make a chorus and the power of the mind thing will work(LOL), that'd be great!

The last time i saw those symptoms was when my husband had heat stroke through too much sun!.

Have you not put anything on your burns?!.

I stay away from sunbeds whenever i can

Oh Stevie!! I would send you a virtual hug but that would hurt!! So, Kai and I send all our love
... I know the pain, sweetie, I got sun poisoning twice.. You would think I'd have learned from the first time but NOO!! LoL It sucks but it'll go away... see if you can get your hands on some Aloe... if you go to a supermarket, or send your bf... they have aloe leaves... cut it open and rub it where you have the bubbles... and whatever you do, DONT break them!.. they'll scar! I hope you feel better soon sweetie!

I woke up yesterday with a cold sore on my lip and I could kill Adrian for jinxing it! My lips have been dry for a week or so and of course he has to say "EW you've got herpes!" and I'm like "NOOO! Shut up! I have Herpes Simplex and I get cold sores but I havent had one in a while!" Well, two days later and not only do I have one on my bottom lip but there's another forming on my top lip right above it... Sexy, huh?

I got sun stroke once too while i was in sicily.
It was so hot and if i dont get in the water then i just simply die...
I wanted to go to the sun bed. But my mother and bf are prohibiting it.. so i have to wait untill JULY!!!!!!!!!!!! to go to sicily.
I have grown up with the sun.. untill i moved to germany which i look like a ghost

I have iron problems also. But the way your described.. id suggest you not to go to another one in a while.. (sunbed) and dont use tanning OIL!
When you go in the sun id give you aloe vera tanning sun screen. THat smells soo nice!!! and its soo good.
But i never wear sun screen at the beach because sun screen doesnt get me tanned.
I do it because... I have dark hair on my body and as i tan, the hair turns blonde
then i apply sun screen to heal it when its burning.

I know when I went the first time to my tanning place they would not let me go longer the 6min the first three times I went! Then I could only increase 1 minute a visit. That makes me mad that they let you go so long.
Please be very careful. If you dont begin to feel better you may need to see someone. Also I know what you mean about tan fat looks better then white fat.
I have decided I like my tan boobies.

Sending lots of feel good vibes your way!!!!

Yikes...that sounds so painful.
I always thought you should start with only a few min and work your way up to 15 Min?!
I hope you'll feel better soon.

Oy - that hurts. As somebody who has had "sun poisoning" several times, I can sympathize. This might sound disgusting (think of the smell!), but one thing that really helps is coating yourself in buttermilk. That's an old "home remedy" my m-in-law passed on to me.

If you have Aloe Vera in your area (probably in Wal-Mart or stores like that), I would suggest using that. We've been using it on sunburns since I was baby. Granted, we use the actual plant, but the bottled version works just as well. The good thing about the bottled version is that you can put it in the fridge to chill it. It feels SOO good on a sunburn...*sigh*

Symptoms:
The first signs of a sunburn may not appear for a few hours. The full effect to your skin may not appear for 24 hours or longer. Possible symptoms include:

Red, tender skin that is warm to touch.
Blisters that develop hours to days later.
Severe reactions (sometimes called "sun poisoning"), which may include fever, chills, nausea, or rash.
Skin peeling on sunburned areas several days after the sunburn.

First Aid:
Try taking a cool bath or shower. Another method is to place wet, cold wash cloths on the burn for 10 to 15 minutes, several times a day. You can mix baking soda in the water to help relieve the pain. (Small children may become easily chilled, so keep the water tepid.)
Apply a soothing lotion to the skin.
Aloe gel is a common household remedy for sunburns. Aloe contains active compounds that help stop pain and inflammation of the skin.
An over-the-counter pain medication, such as acetaminophen (Tylenol) or ibuprofen (Motrin) may be helpful. (Note: aspirin should NOT be given to children.).

Do Not:
DO NOT apply petroleum jelly (like Vaseline), benzocaine, lidocaine, or butter to the sunburn. They make the symptoms worse, and can prevent healing.
DO NOT wash burned skin with harsh soap.

Call immediately if there are signs of shock, heat exhaustion, dehydration, or other serious reaction. These signs include:

Feeling faint or dizzy
Rapid pulse or rapid breathing
Extreme thirst, no urine output, or sunken eyes
Pale, clammy, or cool skin
Nausea, fever, chills, or rash
Your eyes hurt and are sensitive to light
The sunburn or blistering is very severe and painful
