One of our cats has a strange reaction to down comforters...she pees on them, arrrggg! We've taken her to the vet and had tests done and she's fine but it's so frustrating. I am wondering if anyone else has this kind of problem or if anyone might know why down may make her want to pee on the bed. I guess no more down comforters for us.

my bella sleeps with me almost every night and i have a nice feather comforter inside a duvet and 2 feather pillows. for kitty, i put an afgahn on top of the duvet/comforter and she prefers to sleep on that, whilst i am under the covers. that might help.. ??

in a book i read a cat with bladder problems liked to pee on a down comfoter because it was so nice and yielding. have you had her checked by a vet?

This is going to sound weird but it worked when Mr. Mac had gotten into the horrible habit of peeing on our couch. We covered it with aluminum foil. He hated the noise it made when he walked on it. After awhile he forgot about using it as a litter box anymore and we were able to remove the foil. I think we had the foil on for a few weeks.

She could be stressed- has there been any changes in the environment of late? Plus if you don't get the urine out of the comforter with an enzyme cleaner the cat will pee on it every three days-

When I brought my kitty home from the SPCA, he used my down comforter as a toilet too. Let's just say I don't use a down comforter anymore and we haven't had any problems.
Good luck!

Maybe it's because the down is an animal product (inside... the duck feathers???).... I have a down comforter and have never had a trouble with it, however, I tried this fake-fur rug thing in my bedroom last year and one of my cats kept pooping on it. Every single day KC would leave little presents til I just threw the rugs away. No more pooping.

I think they associate certain feeling things (furry stuff, feathery stuff) with something they just have to poop or pee on. I have another cat who used to pee on area rugs; no reason, just because there was an area rug there. But only if the area rug was overtop of carpet. So I don't use area rugs on carpet anymore.

Some cats are just a little psycho like that!

the EXACT same thing happened to me! i always thought the texture of the fur made my cat cringe. she used to pull and euurgh face when ever she touched it.

cover the bed with a protective plastic sheet when your not in, might help as i dont think cats will pee on plastic.
