I have recently taken in a siamese cat in Lincoln, NE. She (I am thinking it's a she...I don't know for sure though....) was out in the cold and was very thursty and hungry. S/he has eaten very well here.

S/he is declawed and doesn't get along with other cats, or is a dominant female. I have no idea where she came from and I don't want to advertise her a lot because I am scarred to death of someone posing as a good home then turning around to sell her to a research lab.

She loves people and loves attention. Uses the litter box very well and will talk back to you whn you talk to her. She is a sweetheart and would make a good home to a loving, forever new mommy or daddy or both!

If you are interested in adopting this special little angel please e-mail me:
[email protected]

I would really like to find a home for her asap because i cannot keep her here with my cat, Alexandria. They HATE each other and I simply do not have time to devote to another cat, and Alex is very upset with another cat in the house.

But I do not have a problem keeping her until I find a reputable siamese rescue OR a forever home that I feel comfortable with.

If you feel you could give this bright eyed ball of fluff a good home and would be willing to either pay for shipping (which is right around $200 via Continental Airlines) or could travel here...(I am willing to meet someone within an hour's distance, but because I don't have a car I cannot go extremely far distances...) or we could probably set up some sort of rescue railroad.

Anyway, please get back to me if you think you are a good enough home for this sweety pot pie.
Here are a few pictures of her...

I'm surprised to see no one has answered your thread yet. I live in Canada so I'm afraid I can't help you out, but there are some awesome people here who have wonderful contacts so hang in there and I'm sure someone will be able to help out or give you some advice about where to go.

Thank you for the kind words and wishes, they mean a lot. I hope i can find her a good home...one she deserves. She's such a beautiful baby. if only i didn't have Alex...she would be staying here. But infortunately I'm moving in with my hunny in 121 more days and he has 5 cats of his own...it's bad enough having 1 dominant female, but 2!!?? and who knows if any of his are!

Well thank you for the kind wishes. Keep your eyes peeled, it DOES mean a lot to me.

Thanks again.

Anne, Alex, and the siamese beauty....

Oh wow, she is beautiful!

Perhaps you could put a Found ad in the paper? Or maybe at least a few signs up in your area? Don't put a picture of her, just put to contact you, and if they can describe her you can agree to meet up. Siamese especially I would think would recognize their people right off. (I say this because my hubby's aunt had a very cold, hungry stray showed up on her porch one day. She took him in, and put up a Found poster on the main road by her property. Not a week went by and she got a call from his owners, who had all but given up hope. He had snuck out a month before and they were sure they would never see him again. He recognized them right off, and they were so happy that she took care of him that they gave her a huge gift basket of kitty stuff for her many cats.
It was a very happy ending...)

Here's one that might be able to help: http://www.siameserescue.org/ There's a chapter in Longmont, Colorado you could contact. That's only 8 or so hours from Lincoln, and getting a "Meezer Train" as they call it wouldn't be that hard.

I suppose I could do the ad then have them guess at her but...what if someone is so eager to get another free animal...hmm especially a purebred...to sell to a research facility? All they would have to do is call back under different aliases or have other people call back and keep guessing until they get it right. That's what I'm scarred of. Call me a paranoid
but I would rather find a home I can be assurred is not going to be a nightmare for her, then to take the chance of her going to her "old home who misses her" when in reality they'll be bringing her to a new home with lots of needles and pain on the side.

I was thinking about posting an ad then charging an adoption fee, but I don't want to sit here and explain WHY I am charging the adoption fee, IF the old owners were to respond, they would wonder if my motives were in the worng place (holding hostige for profit) so that's out too...

ugh the internal dilemmas. I AM beginning to think though that maybe I SHOULD do the ad in the paper and guess thing...I mean, she's so sweet...and she's declawed and everything...if someone just didn't want her, they wouldn't have taken the expensive initiative to declaw her too...but god...what if I'm overtaken by a good talker and adopt her out to the wrong home...I mean *sigh* I just don't know.

what do you guys think I should do now.

update: I tried contacting the siamese rescue and they are closed till Feb. 7th, no joke! This is the e-mail I recieved:

Thank you for contacting Rocky Mountain Siamese Rescue. This is an auto-reply message to confirm that your e-mail was received. Rocky Mountain Siamese Rescue is in the process of moving and will be closed from Friday, January 28th through Sunday, February 6th. All messages will be returned starting Monday, February 7th.

During our closure, we will not be returning phone calls/e-mails, setting appointments to see cats, processing new applications, accepting new cats into the program or fulfilling merchandise requests. Normal operations will resume on Monday, February 7th. During our closure you may still visit our website at http://co.siameserescue.org where you can read about our mission, find out how to volunteer or adopt and print the needed forms, view detailed information on cats available for adoption, and shop through our promos and partners section to help us help more cats. If you are interested in adopting or volunteering, you can complete and mail your application during our closure as we will be receiving mail, however, we will not start processing those items until normal operations resume on Monday, February 7th.

We thank you for your support and patience during our move!

I might be going to Australia late this year, maybe I could smuggle her in on the airplane.
hehe... Being a Sugar Glider Breeder I have a certain respect for Australians.

Thank you for the sweet wishes of finding her a good home.

Hey Zinc! Good to meet you neighbor! well, you're the first nebraskan I've met.

I think i want to just wait and either adopt her out to a home or a siamese rescue facility. I think I *might* put an ad in the paper. I was going to today but woke up at 5pm and was a little late, woops. I can't believe no one hasposted in the lost and founds yet in our newspaper. if I lost a cat that would be the first thing I would do!

**Update** I posted an ad in the newspaper. It says:

Siamese found near 25th & A. Genuine Home call Anne for extensive interview. 402-xxx-xxxx

here are my interview questions. I anyone can think of anything extra to add to them pls. let me know.

Is this a male or a female?

Are her front paws declawed?

are her back paws declawed?

what color are her eyes?

does she have any tiger-like stripes on her or is she just plain cream and brown?

would you consider her darker regions to be light, light brown, like honey,
or would you consider them to be a more deeper brown?

on her arms, does the brown come up all the way, or does it stop around the mid-arm?

would you consider her to have a high-pitched or moderate voice?

this is a bonus question. Something is wron with one of more of her teeth. this may have been an accident while she was away from you, this is why it's a bonus question. What is wrong with one or more of her teeth?

Abra; I think your ad is just fine..I don't know of other questions though but maybe somebody else does.
About her being declawed, etc; she certainly is a housecat but don't be sure that the owners are frantically searching for her, maybe they assumed she died or got irrevocably lost and gave up..believe me, I know. One of my cats was found declawed and spayed wandering..not a purebreed but a striking cute kitty that would be missed and noticed right away, yet nobody claimed her after 6 mos so I adopted her..
Can you keep her some days longer until the Siamese rescue is open for business again? I think you could also have her checked up by a vet_good BTW because of your kitty Alexandria_then call a no-kill shelter and list her as FOUND. Also check with the vet if they recognize her, and if so you can find her owners or they can also post a Found ad in the vet office. It doesn't seem possible that such a kitty hasn't been vaccinated at least. So some vet must have records (on the other hand it could be an out of town kitty but there's a possibility she's local) And if no vet has seen her I don't believe her owners care for her so another home is in order.
I didn't heard from anybody else yet.. I know there are tons of vets in Lincoln but give it a try?
Good Luck! Keeps us posted

Marta~
I called the humane society and listed her, I will call the no kills Monday, unless they are open Sunday. Actually Ill try now and try to leave a message is possible. So that will be done. No one has called from the newspaper yet. A rescuer in Arkansas told me it doesn't make sense: I shouldn't have to be the one going out of my way to find her home! But I will atleast try.

My father let her out of the house yesterday morning. Today (almost 24 hours later) she returned here and ran inside. So she didn't go home.
I will contact that siamese rescue in CO again on the 7th. meanwhile I might try to set up some kind of railroad from me to fayetteville, Arkansas area for another rescuer who is willing to take her in. I already have a transport from me to the witchita, Kansas area. So that's another project, should I not find her home.

I will deffinately keep you updated--thank you for the tips!
