Yeh it was on a show a while back here, but i'm convinced that my boys being the water lovers that they are would just want to play with the toilet water if the lid was open!! (We have a strict closed seat policy due to that!!)

My mom just told me a story last night about this girl that she was friend's with in college. The girl had gone away for the weekend, and when she came home the entire house smelled like male cat urine. She searched the entire house thinking he had sprayed, and when she got to the bathroom she found that he had been urinating IN THE TOILET all weekend long. After that she learned to keep the seat up and to flush often!
It's the only toilet-training-cat story I've ever haerd of personally, and it's even cooler because the cat taught himself!

We have a member here katl8e, who's cat taught himself to use the toilet(just to urinate though) I think that's cool and I know I would get the shock of my life if I saw one of my fluffies up on the toilet seat!

There have been threads on this before. I am among a number of members of TCS who have had cats who trained themselves to use the toilet. There are also special 'cat seat' attachments that you can put on a toilet to train them - they are like little litter boxes that sit over the seat. I have never tried them though.

Everyone that I know of who has tried this, can only get the cats to pee in the toilet. There are kits you can buy and training videos as well. I heard the cats will dump one time in the john, but they get hit with water on their rear when they do and never dump in the toilet again. If you go to www.meowhoo.com and look under litterboxes you will find a couple of websites that offer this product.

HAHA that cracks me up! I've thought of training chester in the past, but I can totally picture the look on the cats face when the water splashes!

My mom had a cat, Salem, that used the toilet as a litter box. Salem was pretty much self-trained behavior. She had been using the sinks before and my mom naturally would freak at her. So when she used the toilet and got lots of praise (like a toddler or a dog I guess
) she kept on using it.
