I had lunch at Flamers today....

I ordered a double bacon cheeseburger combo, with chili cheese fries (Yes, french fries covered in chili and melted cheddar cheese).

When I had to choose the toppings, it sort of went as usual... mayo, ketchup, mustard, lettuce, tomato, pickles, no onions please, and while you are at it some of those sliced mushrooms that are sitting over there.

But then I found an ingredient that wasn't there last time I came. At least I had not noticed it. And I love that little thing. There was no way on earth I wouldn't let him get away with not putting it in the burger.

Once I told him to put a jalapeño in the burger... that guy stared at me for several seconds like if I had asked him "throw some lethal poison into it!".
He instead of just picking it up with the tweezers and putting it in the burger, he grabbed it a second, and looked at me and asked me "Jalapeños, right?" like trying to ask himself if he had heard right.
He finally served it. I walked away thinking to myself "If he's like that about a jalapeño in a burger, he better not go to MÃ[emoji]169[/emoji]xico."

I have always liked their hamburgers. Now I like them even more. I am a big fan of jalapeños... and this one kicked some taste into the burger.
And when I came home, I thought about making this thread.

Do you like hot foods? Or are you like the Flamers boy who stared at me in disbelief when I came up with that idea?

Jalapeños are too hot for me, but my husband loves them. Last summer I brought back some seeds from some my sister's s.o. was growing - were they hot!

I like things with a kick... but I don't like feeling my mouth on fire.

My dad would eat jalapenos with practically everything... I've never seen him try one that was too spicy for him, but whenever I tried it, phew... steam came out of my ears!

I'm not a big fan of Mexican food spices, but I love East Indian and West Indian curry. Hot is good!

My Siamese cat from years ago loved Curried Chicken. She would almost go into a frenzy when she smelled it and no matter how "hot" it was, she loved it.

I can eat moderately spicy things, but I enjoy the food less if it's more than a little spicy. It might be because, when I was 2, my dad thought it would be hilarious to give me a hot banana pepper from the garden just to see what my reaction would be (he really caught it from my mum for that one!). Regardless, I myself wouldn't want jalapeno on my burger, but I can understand that other people like it. BTW, yoviher, I'm totally with you on the NO ONIONS part!

Yeah, I only like them, when they are fully fried... bur raw, NO WAY!

I know this sounds funny, but as much as I like Jalapeños, and love even more Chili, I don't like Tabasco sauce. And my mom can't live without having a family size bottle of it at hand, in fact I haven't seen anything edible which she hasn't put Tabasco on, before eating it.

Oh my current favorite for a spiff up at a reward meal (where I have anything carby or with sugar) is Chipotle Tabasco sauce

Movin' on up!
I make a killer salsa, with jalapenos, green chiles, sweet cherry peppers, garlic and cilantro.

There are always bottles of red Mexican hot sauce and green Tabasco sauce, on my table, as well as crushed red chiles.

I also have a bottle of wonderful pepperoncini, from a specialty store, in the refrigerator, along with a jar of jalapeno-and-garlic-stuffed olives, from the same grower.

None of this stuff gives me indigestion - I get it from orange juice.

I like hot and spicy chicken, and I love Rogan Josh - but that's about as hot as I get. It was funny once I came home from school and there was a Subway sandwhich in the fridge and I looked at it and thought mm yum chicken fillet my favourite and I took a big bite and got a mouth full of jalapenos - my mouth was on fire for like thirty minutes.

I can't eat hot spicy foods. I had an ulcer a few years ago, and I still have to take Zantac for heartburn. Geez I get heartburn from mashed potatoes.

Hot doesn't bother me. I quite enjoy it. Where I draw the line, though, is when the fire obliterates the flavour -- if I can't still taste the other flavours, then it's too hot. Otherwise, I love it. I'm somewhat susceptible to heartburn, but hot stuff isn't necessarily the culprit -- in fact, I think it's more stress related than food related, so I don't worry too much about it.
