Hi!

Just wanted to share my lovely pet communicator experience with ya'll
I went to Hillary http://www.calmpet.com/ Really like her.

Anyways, you first fill out the form on her site, she gets back to you and then you set up an appt. As you might know I have been struggling with this whole indoor/outdoor thing cause philosophically I belive in indoor only but my cat has a different point of view. So I wanted to find out why and also if he was happy here, I live in a small place.

She commicated with my Sammy and said he likes to "sashe around the neighborhood" He isn't looking for fights outside, just loves the fresh air.
He is VERY happy in his home, he really likes me and likes to greet me when I get home (he does) He thinks we can work out the "indoor/outdoor" thing. So I am doing supervised, outdoor time after talking to him. I would prefer keeping him in 24/7 but I think I can work with this. She said he will always come home cause he loves his home.

i asked if he wants a buddy she said he is fine but would be open to it as long as he is "my number 1 cat" which he would always be. I was relieved to learn he wasn't "dying" to have a buddy cause I am not ready now.

So anyways, it was a good experience and worth the money for the peace of mind it brought me.

I am pleased that it was a positive experience for you and that you are able to work with Sammy, now, on the indoor/outdoor issues!

Would you be able to take him out on a lead or build a kind of adventure enclosure for him? It would mean that he can have his fresh air and you can have your peace of mind!

I think I am going to take a look at the link you added, I am intrigued as to what she does!

Good luck with working things out with Sammy!

Wow - $70 for a phone consultation. I think I'll pass on getting her to ask Jamie why he hates other cats.

There are some that are cheaper, like $40 I think. It's actually two consultations, initial talk then her doing some work on her own and getting back to you. You know it would be enlightening to find out why Jamie does hate cats, and you might be able to work with it.

It was worth it for me and Sammy doesn't want to go out as much since all of this. And I am more clear than he doesn't *need* another cat around which was causing me stress big time.

I've seen a lot of ads for communicators in pet magazines here, too.
I imagine it is worth it if you feel less stressed - I know you've tried just about everything with Sammy.

Yeah like the last two mornings I have been able to have peace, he is playing in the bathroom and lovin' life not just wanting out. so I dunno if it's coincidence or what.

I've seen a product in pet stores around here (the name escapes me), where you put a "kitty door" somwhere with outside access, and then assemble a mesh-netting based "hamster trail" that the cat can venture out in, while being unable to really run away.

It's got tunnels, sleeping areas, food areas, "up" and "down" ramps... it might help your situation a bit.

for the life of me I can't recall where I saw it, but some web searching should turn it up...
