A beautiful little cat died today.
She was a little stray that lived in my daughter's neighborhood.
She was a little black and white girl about 4-6 months old.
As my daughter was leaving for work she found her laying on the sidewalk near her house. She was not moving and she was crying out.
We suspect that she had been hit by a car. She didn't look ill. She was hydrated but her gums were very pale. We knew she was dieing.

We wrapped her in a towel and placed her gently in a carrier. I put her in my car as the sun was shining and it was warm in there.

I decided to take her to the Humane Society not far from here. I figured they could help her on her way to the Rainbow Bridge. As soon as I got in the car I decided she needed a name. I asked her how she liked "Little Cat". Before we even arrived at the Society she died.

I had just met her and I loved her. It is all so sad and so unfair. She was so beautiful. Well, she is in a better place now and for that I am thankful.

Goodbye Little Cat. I am hoping that you will meet me at the Rainbow Bridge someday and we can get to know each other better. I would like that.

I did not know her personally, but I feel for your loss and her pain. I know she is no longer suffering and will never suffer again, that is a good thing. She was found by someone who came to love her quickly and I am sure she was grateful for that even if she was unable to voice it. The compassion you showed to stop and help her is wonderful and I am sure she looks down from the rainbow bridge with a smile at having found such a wonderful person even for such a brief time. Thank you from me and all the other cats in the world for helping that poor baby in her time of need. My thoughts are with you in your moment of sorrow and I hope you can find relief in the knowledge that you did everything possible to help her in her time of need.

you & your daughter showed her so much love in those last moments of her life that I honestly have no doubt that she will be there waiting for you at the bridge

Bless you for taking in Little Cat. Instead of dying alone and forgotten, she crossed the Bridge with a name and a loving family to wait for on the other side. I'm glad she had the courage and strength to wait until you found her and named her!! And I am so glad that your daughter and you have the compassion and courage to comfort and aid a cat during her most dire need. I will add another lit candle to my window, to show my thankfulness for your kind actions and in gratitude for a special life cut short.
Many of us share your sorrow and tears. Hugs, smiles & prayers, Susan
