here for the next 2 to 3 weeks. Please read the following link. http://www.thecatsite.com/forums/sho...ighlight=Lorie I went to the doctor yesterday, and my suspecision that I might have early Carpel Tunnel Syndrome has been confirmed.
Well, actually the doctor said my wrist was strained from work-related overuse. I was told the problem was possible early Carpel Tunnel
or maybe just tendenitis (which is what I'm hoping it is). So now I have to wear a wrist support at work for a while in addition to wearing one at night, and my wrist will be re-evaluated in 2 weeks. I realize that this isn't a big deal to anyone here, but rather than risk making the problem any worse, I thought I'd just mainly read threads here for a while instead of activitly participating.

I'm far too addicted to this place to leave completely.

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Oh Lorie
i'm sure i mentioned it in your thread that my hairdresser has it and she's having an operation on hers. As it happens i was having my hair cut tonight and she goes in next week to have it done.

Fingers crossed that it's not the start of it but theres an operation there that can fix it if it is!.

Now no typing! and just read because we know you'll still be with us!

Pfft! This is definitely important to us here Lorie! You are very much loved.

I hope your wrist feels better with a break. Are you going to be doing anything differently ergonomically or have you thought about that yet?

well, take care of yourself! I have heard nothing but bad things from people who kept going at their normal pace after being told to cut back....

lots of good vibes coming your way--I hope you get good news (well, at least the news you are hoping for...I wont call it good) and that you feel better soon

Lorie, I am so very sorry to hear of this. I know it can be quite painful - and frustrating!!! You have always been a rock around here and have no fear my dear, we feel your presence!!! Lurk away but take care.

Sending good strong vibes, too!

And do post an update from time to time.

Love,
Elizabeth

Lorie, please be sure to take care of yourself, and if your doctor tells you to change jobs, please take him/her seriously!

I've found this book to be very helpful - it gives a good explanation of carpal tunnel and other repetitive injuries. This site has a some good suggestions, as well as a comprehensive list of links - but if you go link-surfing, be sure to stop & stretch frequently, and only do a little at a time

Also, if your doctor suggests surgery, I'd recommend making sure you get a 2nd opinion from a neurologist - the nerves that affect your hands can be trapped anywhere from your neck on down to your wrists, and if they're trapped somewhere other than in your wrists, carpal tunnel surgery won't help. A neurologist can do a nerve conduction study to help pinpoint the source of trouble.

Best wishes
