Here's the long-awaited update

Unfortunately, problems with this fountain were immediately evident
For one, the floor must be PERFECTLY LEVEL, otherwise the water will not cover the dome, and if you wedge it on the side like I did, it will make an annoying vibrating sound from the pump.

Marsh was afraid of it! He wouldn't even approach it. For the time it was running, about 36 hours, he'd pass it always crouching, and never, even once touhed it
my fruitless efforts in taking him forcefully and putting his paws and face in the water resulted in a very unhappy cat.

And third, which I thought was the most troubling, was that if you touch the dome even lightly, as if you're a cat trying to lick water, the pump would respond and the whole thing would vibrate and make that same noise again.

After all said and done, i'm sending it back
I did love the design, it looked very cool
if you have totally level hardwood or tile floor, i'm sure this thing will work, plus, a cooperating cat of course!

I can't believe you cat loves it! how about the dome, he wasn't afraid of it??? maybe because of the even floor yours makes little noise, who knows. marsh was just deafly afraid of it, he never got the idea to lick the dome.. oh well

I've have been using the catit for about 4 months now with my 2 cats. It runs almost completely silent unless the water is too low. My one cat enjoys licking off the bowl and the other from the pool in the front of the fountian.

I did have the problem of the water not running evenly on the globe, but I would tilt the unit so water would run over the dry area, and then when I set it back down water would run over the whole thing.

I would recommend it to anyone! I got mine for 25 here-

http://www.animalworldnetwork.com/cawafo.html

of course now they are selling it for 28. With the mat they want 36.

she uses the dome and the water bowl. the only problem i had with it is she keeps flicking dry food in there coz she likes to see it get sucked round by the filter!

if i dont set it up properly or theres not enough water it vibrates but she doesnt seem to mind. then again this is a really noisy household so noise doesnt bother Maverick much

I'm glad I found this thread. I was at PetSmart last night and saw it. It looks so interesting! I think my cats would love it but I think Bert and Ernie will probably make a mess. They like to throw water around. We love to recommend fountains like this at our clinic for our patients that have renal difficulties. We've seen it do wonders with cats that are always dehydrated! Despite my kitten's water throwing tendencies I am seriously considering investing in one!

Both my cats love this thing. I ordered it from Amazon.com, it ended up being the same price as one on Ebay- came with a mat and a food dish and a couple extra filters. I leave out their regular water dish and they haven't touched it. We have such horrible chemical tasting water in this town, it's no wonder the cats are drinking way more water with this thing.

I have the Freshflow Delux for Dusty. I have had no issues with it..cleaning or other wise and Dusty loves it. I got it because at 19.99 it was a good deal especially since I didn't know whether he would like it or not. He has FLUTD and the vet actually reccomended a fountain

I have seen the Cat-it lately and its look interesting. If I get another fountain(for a different room in the house) I might go for the cat-it. However our floors aren't perfectly level so maybe not. Decisions,Decisions

I plan to order the Catit fountain and wondered whether to pay extra for an included mat. Dmcwlvssr, I see here that you've ordered the Catit. Did you order it with a mat? Esrgirl, do you think the mat is worth an extra $10 or $15?
Thanks, Cheryl
