Hi, I was looking at different types of natural litter online (almost completely sold on going and ordering a bag of chicken feed), when I came across someone mentioning "Mountain Meadows Cat Country Litter" and how good it is. She says it even clumps, despite being in pellet (and therefore low tracking) form. That's what the brand claims too.
Was wondering if anyone had heard of such a thing, and if it was any good. Then comes the quest of finding a supplier to Ontario.

From what I can tell looking around on the net, you'd have to buy the Mountain Meadows Cat Country Elite Litter to get clumping. It also seems a bit pricey to me, but that's probably because I'm used to my cats and foster-kittens using the crumbled chicken feed.

And the crumpled Chicken feed really works well eh? I'm going to pick up some swheat scoop tomorrow and give it a shot. I know it's not the same, infact as far as I know the chicken feed is more like the worlds best, right? I have a coupon for the swheat scoop so I thought it would be a good starting place.

It's hard for me to say, as I'm in Australia and we don't have many of the brands of litter that the USA does. Yep, the chicken feed is excellent - it clumps well, is only $12 for a 20Kg (44lbs) bag and is safe for the kittens, who, as part of the process of learning to use the litter pan, sometimes nibble on it!

interesting! I found that crystal litters work the best for me. They never smell, you dont' have to scoop pee (it's absorbed) and poos get dried out and the scooping is troublefree. I use the FreshMagic brand, through a suggestion from my breeder.

I certainly find it interesting how many different types of litters there are and how there are such different opinions as to what's best. I suppose it's like anything else, preference, experience and the cats themselves.
I'm trying to talk my mom into the chicken feed (can you flush that???) because we recently got our garbage bags cut down to 2 bags per week for our 4 person, 4 cat, 1 guinea pig and a whole lot of snails house. The litter is adding up, and she's looking for an alternative.
Maybe if I try it myself she might try it too

The silica gel ones sure are...uhh...pretty looking (as weird as that sounds). But I don't know if I like the idea of urine evaporating into my air supply, at least on purpose. They also seem a bit expensive. I'm glad that you're having luck with them though! Always in support of someone who's found a product that makes them happy.

Yes, the chicken feed is flushable, as it's completely organic. Not sure about the snails lol but the guinea pig can use it for bedding, I think.

I have been using BJ's brand of litter for years without a problem. It comes in a cardboard box and is aboust $8 for 40 pounds. I have 4 cats who like is just fine. I transfer the contents of the box to plastic pails, from another brand of litter.

I agree with Kumbulu. The crumbled chicken feed works great (just like WBCL). My parents have been using it for a couple weeks and it's also good on their wallets.

Count me in as another happy user! I use the Nutrena chicken layer crumbles and they are fantastic. Cheaper than any premium litter, clumping, non-dusty, and it controls odor really well. Plus my serval will use it, and they are REALLY picky!

Yep. Chicken feed is just like chicken scratch/layer.
